Children's Night Shelter: Tanzania!

Hey, friends! I'm going back to Tanzania! But this time, I'm not only planning to get cosy with giraffes; I'm raising funds for a night shelter, to provide a safe place for the many street children of Arusha, and I need your help!
As many of you know (and, as some of you also did), two years ago I went to Arusha and Moshi, Tanzania on placement for med school. I had the most incredible time, it's a gorgeous country with amazing natural and cultural wonders. What really pulled me to return were their welcoming communities, who were so warmhearted despite experiences that we might oversee through the perspective of travellers; particularly those of the many street children of these cities. The reasons why these children end up out of home are multifactorial, including poverty, neglect, and family breakdown, which then expose these (sometimes even very young) children to the verbal, physical, and sexual abuse associated with life on the streets.
This time in June, I will be affiliated with Amani Children's Home, an organisation based in Moshi, Tanzania, who have worked for over 15 years to provide basic necessities such as food, education, life-skills training, medical care, counseling, and a Drop-In Centre where kids can seek out help. They provide these necessities with a focus on keeping children with their families, maintaing ongoing support for the future, and keeping them away from the abuse and cycle of poverty they may be exposed to.
Amani has recently expanded their reach with the aim of starting a Street Children's Night Shelter in Arusha, which is where we come in. They have a remaining $25, 000 funding gap to build their centre, and with your support my Canadian volunteer partner and I are aiming to raise as much as we can to help. 100% of donations will be going towards building this shelter, I'll pass on plenty of updates while I'm there for the month!
