Today was the last of 19 weeks of chemo treatments. As crazy as it sounds, it’s bitter sweet. Don’t get me wrong #cancersucks and there have been a lot of low points in the journey, but cancer as also brought us so many amazing experiences and new friendships that we will never forget. Of course our family as been so amazing, with their support and love, we love you to the moon and back, but also the new friendships that were build from sharing something so terrible, nurses, cancer fighter, cancer survivors and cancer supports, it has brought us a new family. The list is too long to name everyone, just know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers and we are forever grateful. #ringthebell #sixstrong #speedbump2018

Next step, she will have surgery (lumpectomy), sometime in the middle of Nov. to remove any of the lump that is still remaining . After surgey she will have 3 to 6 weeks of radiation treatments five days a week.

Thanks again for everyone's support.

An update from Cheri, herself!

I just finished an 8 week round of chemo going every other week. It was a rough 8 Weeks, but have had amazing support from my family, friends and neighbors!!! I start my next round of chemo going every week for 12 weeks this Friday. I’m told it will be easier than my last 8 weeks so keep your fingers crossed.

We know that tumor has shrunk and we’ll do a scan in a few weeks to measure its size.
After this 12 weeks of chemo, I’ll have a lumpectomy to remove any tumor remains and surrounding tissue.

And an update from my (Joy, Cheri’s sister in law)perspective:
Just as expected, Cheri is doing so much to stay positive and healthy. She hates doing chemo, not just because it makes me sick and sucks her energy, but because she values treated her body kindly and with health and nature and good things. So she’s finding ways to balance the chemo’s bad with natural good as much as she can. She smiles and laughs and shows up for the moments that matter to her, even when she feels terrible. But she also gets scared, and cries, and gets that she has to deal with such a crap deal. And the finances have been the kind of stress that’s harder to talk about than the cancer itself. Not being able to work for days after a chemo dose on top of the medical bills that are already coming in, feel heavy. Health comes first, but finances don’t wait for you to feel better. It’s hard to not think about the money when you have to take another day off of work to go to the doctor to get an IV drip to keep you hydrated.

In other news, beautiful Madison is getting ready for her happiest of weddings with Jay. And the wedding is a beautiful reminder of the good things in life and a distraction from the bad things. Cheri’s chemo continues through this wedding season because cancer doesn’t care that there’s a special day to be had. We’re all so hoping this new round of chemo leaves her feeling better than the last so that the big day can be easy to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Cheri through this. There’s still a long way to go; please keep the support coming if you can!

Love, The Wawrzyniaks!
Finding strength in her 6!
