THERAPY DOG needs SPINAL PROCEDURE

$1,640 of $4,000 goal

Hello! My name is Chase. I am a working Therapy dog registered with Therapy Dogs Internantional. I volunteer weekly and visit with Facilities in Los Angeles, California and I visit all walks of life of all ages. Some of my Therapy visits include going to the Silverlake library where children sign up to read to me. Other visits are educational where I visit young kids in schools and dicuss how important Therapy Dogs are and how we need more of them. I also visit assisted living facilities to lower blood pressure, and raise the hopes and spirits of the mentally challenged. Pet Therapy is vital and people who need me look forward to my weekly visits. I bring love, joy and hapiness. I have the ability to make people feel alive and remind them what its like to love and feel love back.

Recently, I have been diagnosed with a neurological problem with the lower part of my spine thats effected the use of my back legs, and it's restricted me from being able to continue my visits at this point. Although my symptoms are similar, I've tested negative for Degenerative Myelopathy. I am a very healthy dog other than this problem. My veterinarian thinks I may have slipped a disk and I need an MRI to determined if it can be fixed with surgery.

Can you please help me? I have setup a GOFUNDME account to donate money for my medical expenses. I am hoping that GOFUNDME will help me raise funds for the combined costs of the MRI, Spinal Tap, Spinal Surgery, Meds and Hospital stay. I would like to go back to work and continue to give back to my community. Anything you can afford to donate would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

UPDATE:
Hi everyone. I wanted to update you all on how CHASE is doing. He's been taking prednisone in different doses. He became a little anemic. He was given another med to take prior to taking the prednisone to coat his stomach-for the lesions in his stomach- from the prednisone, and get his numbers up to where they should be in his blood work. He seems to be doing better at the higher dose than he is now at the lower dose but its too damaging long term. We have 2 more weeks at this dosage. His back legs give out/collapse here and there but he still does' t seem to be in pain and appears to be a happy dog still.
We raised $1600. I THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!! Although it isn't near what we needed for the surgery, we have decided to apply that $1600 towards the $2200 MRI bill that was included in the total cost of the original $8000 surgery cost.
Today I ordered CHASE a K-9 Wheelchair as well... to help him get around so he can get back to doing what he loves...volunteering time as a working Therapy Dog. This K-9Wheelchair will also help him get through the airport when we travel.
I wanted to say thank you again for all your donations. Some of you never met CAHSE. The love and generosity you showed for him and our situation really filled my heart with joy. I appreciate you all.
This fund will continue to run throughout April and will end MAY 1, 2015. Please continue to Share it and Repost this UPDATE.

UPDATE: I finished my 6 weeks of prednisone. They tested my blood yesterday and found I'm a little anemic, and have small lesions in my stomach that are Ulcer like symptoms due to the steroid. SURGERY now is my ONLY option besides doing nothing and living out the rest of my life getting worse and ending up with no use of my back legs.. I was not a candidate for the STEM CELL procedure. I am going o be 13 this year. Im a happy healthy dog other than this. The risks are SURGERY doesn't help, SURGERY will make it worse and i may not be able to walk after, or it will work and I will be 60% better. We need your help in donating if you haven't already. ANY amount helps . THANKS FRIENDS

Its my last 2 weeks on Prednisone. Down to 1 pill every other day. I'm pretty much back where I started. My balance is off and my paws drag in the back. When I try to turn around I end up in a sit position. Hopefully wont end up worse then when I started this med...... Also, we did some research and spoke with a Top Vet and found out I am NOT a candidate for the STEM CELL procedure due to the severity of the spinal problem. Looks like it Spinal Surgery, or I will eventually lose the loss of my back legs, and need a set of wheels.... ALL donations and Reposts are greatly appreciated.
