Creating Change Through Story

I am a filmmaker with a passion for storytelling. My wife is a bilingual elementary school teacher.
...and we are about to take a big step into the unknown.
We will both be leaving our current full time jobs, heading out to tell the stories of amazing people across the world who are giving their lives to serve others. Our first stop: a small school in Guatemala called Saber y Gracia!
This school, located in a small rural farming community in the mountains of Guatemala, seeks to help communities break free from the cycle of poverty by providing local children with a quality education and mentorship. To prevent turning away children in the coming years as attendance increases, they are starting a new building project. Kylie and I will live with a local family, get to know the community, and document the stories of the children and families affected by this school. All of this will come together to provide promotional materials for the school, which will extend their reach as they seek new donors for this project and continue providing needed education.
While we deliberated for quite a while on whether to raise support at all (and have primarily wanted to avoid it), we have been encouraged at every turn to do so. We are confident that our needs will be provided for in one way or another; if this is a project that excites you, however, we would love to invite you into the adventure with us.
There are amazing stories unfolding every day across the world. Unfortunately, some of the most incredible stories get buried; either because there is no voice to tell them, or they get lost within the sea of media and advertisements gunning for our attention. As we set out to create a voice for some of these stories, we would love your support and partnership. As we move forward, we look forward to sharing with you both how plans are progressing, as well as some background on how God has been preparing us for this over the last few years.
This GoFundMe marks the first step in what will hopefully be an amazing journey. If you are interested in longer-term sponsorship so that we can continue to tell stories beyond this project, than we would also love to hear from you!
