Carleen's Breast Reconstruction

Carleen was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer at age 30 while she was 7 months pregnant. After a double mastectomy, Carleen found a way to cover her radiation and chemotherapy treatment, yet she was unable to find resources for restoring her breasts, she remainded breast-less. Carleen has reached out to My Hope Chest for assistance with her reconstructive surgery, which is now in the 3rd phase. My Hope Chest will help her travel from remote Nome, Alaska to Seattle, WA to her surgeon for the difficult fat transfer procedures. Carleen's breast reconstruction surgery, travel and hotel will exceed $10,000.
In her own words...
My cancer was very aggressive, and I was given a 15% chance of making it 5 years out from cancer treatment. With toddlers and a baby, pursing reconstruction felt selfish. We just needed to figure out how to live again.
Living without breasts in my 30’s has been harder than I ever imagined. I sat one day googling to see if there were any organizations that helped with reconstruction. That’s when I found My Hope Chest. It was the ONLY organization I found to help. It is hard to believe that people from the other side of the states, who have never met me, have suddenly shouldered this impossible financial load for us. Reconstruction is a painful, yet hopeful, journey. My Hope Chest supporting us through it is an amazing blessing.

Please help assist Carleen as she continues her journey to completion. Carleen is scheduled for her next surgery on May 18, 2017 and will have at least one more surgery before she completes her reconstruction and can finally feel whole again.
