Dear Friends, Family and Loyal Supporters:
On May 19, 2017, I will be a Medical Services Brigade Volunteer stationed in Chontapunta, Ecuador, as part of the Timmy Global Health organization. Each day we will travel from base-camp by canoe to remote villages where we will set up clinics. We will treat approximately 500 patients during this one week mission.
In order to participate in this global healthcare initiative, I must PERSONALLY spend $2,500 to cover my airfare, supplies and the brigade volunteer fee. I NEED YOUR HELP SO I CAN HELP OTHERS! Please know that your donation, no matter amount, will go directly to providing healthcare in the Amazon through volunteers like me!
Timmy Global Health (Timmy) is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges. Timmy believes all people, regardless of who they are, what resources they have, and where they live, should have access to quality healthcare. Timmy strives to make this vision a reality by strengthening the capacity of local health systems through short-term medical service programs and long-term health solutions.
Timmy’s primary care medical trips help provide year–round health access to our adopted communities. Teams return to partner sites every 2–3 months, maintain detailed records, and ensure patients have access to the quality care they need and deserve.
These short–term efforts are vital to our long–term continuity. Paired with strong, local health partnerships, medical teams help fulfill the promise made to the communities. Even after medical teams have gone home, patients have access to important medicines, have contact with a community health worker, receive subsidized surgeries and hospital care, and feel secure in the fact that they can reach a doctor in the event of an emergency.
