Soccer for Cabrillo Kids

I am principal of Cabrillo Elementary in Fremont. 68% of my students are classified as unduplicated pupils (English learners, meet income requirements for free or reduced meals, or are foster youth). Many of my families can't afford to enroll their children in organized sports - it's not right that my students don't have the same opportunities to participate in organized sports as the kids who live in my neighborhood 5 minutes away.

I want to give my kids the opportunity they deserve to play soccer in the new soccer league started in Fremont. I plan to field two teams of twenty kids (boys and girls). My kids will need uniforms. This means they will need jerseys, shorts, over the calf socks, and shin pads.

In addition, we will need soccer goals so the kids can practice and we can host league games. The soccer matches hosted at Cabrillo will be important opportunities for my community to come together to celebrate and support the kids.

Our new soccer league will have its first league games in March 2017.

Please help me help my kids to have the same opportunities for organized sports as the kids in my neighborhood. Organized sports represent a very important avenue for fair play and fitness.
