Help the Brionez Family, Who Lost Everything To Fire:
Sparkie and I learned last night that a wonderful family was victim to what appears to be an arson fire at the Federal View Apartments in Denver.

I'm Kevin Boulas, and the Brionez family work at my kids' previous school - Destini Brionez is an incredible loving woman who taught my then 2 year old son, and he loved her dearly.  Her mother Antoinetta also works at the school, and taught my son's last class before we moved - she calls my daughter Strawberry...

Destini and her mom are not only incredibly loving and kind women, but Destini is a single mom who has raised an incredible, well mannered, kind and caring little boy, AJ - he's the kind of kid you hope your kids are like when they are 7 or 8.  The Brionez family don't make a lot of money teaching at a private, church-affiliated preschool, and so both teach all day from 7 until 3pm at the school. Then they spend another 3 or 4 hours cleaning the school to earn extra money.  And through it all, they remain patient, and caring, and kind - we never worried about taking our kids to preschool because we knew they would be in great hands with Destini, and Antoinetta, and all the teachers at CEC.

We learned last night of the horrific Federal View apartment fire, which was apparently caused by arson (the suspect has been arrested) - see this from 9News: http://www.9news.com/news/local/fire-victims-jumped-to-safety/105227613

We learned also that this is where Destini, Antoinetta, and AJ Brionez live.  Thankfully, AJ was not home that night, but Destini and Antoinetta were.  Antoinetta lost consciousness and had to be rescued by Denver Fire.  Destini jumped out of a third floor window to avoid the fire, severely injuring herself.  As bad as that is, they also lost most of their possessions in the fire...

These are hourly workers - they don't work, they don't get paid. I'm assuming also that they don't have short or long term disability.  So once their injuries heal, they have another long struggle ahead of them - the kind of problem that isn't easy to fix on the hourly wage they make from working multiple jobs...

So we are asking any kind folks out there to donate whatever they can to this wonderful family - Sparkie and I will match the first $500.

There are so many deserving causes out there, and so many important things to be done, but right now I am hard-pressed from my own, biased point of view to think there is much that is more important than helping these wonderful teachers, who care for so many kids as if they were their own, while they do everything they can to raise a wonderful little 7 year old boy...

So please, if you can, give a few dollars... a few dollars here, a few dollars there, and before you know it you've made a difference in these wonderful people's lives...

And if you can't give, or even if you can, keep Destini, and AJ, and Antoinetta in your thoughts, and if you're so disposed, your prayers... Thanks. ~ Amy and Kevin
