Bright Lives is a “not for profit” community organisation, a Social Enterprise.  We have been set up as a specialist centre to support adults with autism or learning difficulties to develop their Independent Living Skills we can teach people to prepare for living independently or to be supported with a Personal Assistant or Support Staff.  Disability Rights UK believes that all disabled people should be able to live independent life styles with dignity and have a greater choice and control of their lives.

We look at the areas of:  Skills Based Assessment

Money Management – Rent, Bills, Food (Healthy Eating) Medication we include Home Management and Home Safety.

Food Preparation – Planning and Purchasing Food, storing this, simple meal plans and nutrition.

Transportation – Using Public Transport, using taxis’ even if your son/daughter drives the responsibility of owning a car.

Shopping for Clothes and Personal Items – the layout of shops, the understanding of how to purchase specific items using cash and cards to keep in budget and the areas of dressing and clothing care.

Laundry – Washing clothes, changing duvets, using a tumble dry.

Personal Care – Practising good hygiene, staying fit and healthy.

Community Access – Accessible Venues and involving yourself in community life with social activities.

Meaningful Volunteering or Work Based Skills – developing your confidence and skills, we can signpost to other organisations.

Staying Safe Online – Using the internet and the pitfalls of Social Media and how to protect yourself.  Peer pressure, Bullying and Harassment, be careful of who you talk to and what you share online, defiantly don’t meet people you do not know!

Sexual Health and Relationships – Our guide to keep vulnerable students safe from exploitation or abuse and how to protect yourselves.

We teach our students the skills and requirements to develop and become confident. Resources are important for us to achieve this.   We ask for your support to help us fundraise for training vulnerable people that may not have had this mentoring opportunity and for us to help them succeed.
