My Sister's Closet of Monroe County is a free, grassroots 501 C-3 non-profit organization that gives women the tools, support, and training they need to find jobs and become independent.  To date, over 1900 women have come through our doors for assistance!

Over 40 non-profit organizations use the free tools and advocacy services to help clients.  Most are coming from emergency situations or extreme poverty.  Several are homeless, suffering job displacement or are under-employed.  The majority have worked in the past, but are simply experiencing difficulty finding a new job and getting hired.

Programming & tools available to clients:

- Ready-2-Work, 12-week certification program:
Free  intensive job/life skills training & real working-world experience program available in small classes in our on-site Learning Laboratory to highly motivated clients who are seeking self-sufficiency, economic independence, and permanent employment.

- Soft Skills Mentoring Including:

Mock Interviewing, elevator speech training, help explaining holes on resumes or job changes, body language instruction, handshakes, and the importantce of eye-contact... etc.

   -Job Search Assistance, Resume Creation, and Advocacy Services to:

Help access employer job postings, creating and posting resumes, cover letter creation, general guidance and option consulting.

  - Up to 5 Free Professional Interview &
 Workplace Outfits to get hired and to fit into the culture of a new job.
  - Essential Accessories such as:
Shoes, a purse, jewelry, make-up & hygiene products, Underwear, 
-  Professional bra fittings, tailoring if needed, hair cuts & styling
- Cold weather items: 
Coats, boots, hats, & gloves
