Project Details
In response to the fallen police officer Blake C. Snyder I am creating a memorial in his honor. This memorial will be placed in the newly named Blake C. Memorial Park. It will have a flagpole, bench, and plaque in dedication to him. This memorial will be in the shape of a circle with an outer ring and inner ring. The outer ring that will meet the edge of walking path that goes down through the park. The border of the outer ring will be makeup of a Tumbled Belgian Edger blocks while the inner ring will consisting of three levels of Belgian Wall Blocks. Between the outer ring and inner ring there will be a walkway with flagstone stepping stones which will be placed in a bed of decorative gavel surrounding the inner ring of the memorial. An eight inch wall consisting of three levels of Belgian Wall Blocks will form the inner ring which will house a garden area with low maintenance shrubs and a large granite bolder with a dedication plaque to Officer Blake Snyder. Lastly in the center will be a twenty-five-foot flag pole that will be lit by lights placed at the base. On the other side of the path will be a bench made and supplied by the parks department facing the memorial so passersby can rest, or family and friends can come admire the memorial. At completion, we will have a dedication ceremony that could include Officer Snyder’s family, friends, co-workers, all County Executives, yourself, Police Chief Belmar, Adult Leadership of Troop 623. To show the completion the color guard from the troop will raise the flag onto the pole.
