Bill Heidelman's Cancer Fund

From the moment you meet Bill his dynamic personality shows through. He has an incredible heart, infectious laughter and unbridled enthusiasm. He drops everything to help anyone and everyone along his path.

He has given countless hours of his days coaching youth sports teams, cheering from the sidelines, supporting the Servite/Rosary programs and helping kids grow into great adults.  He is the first to volunteer and the last to leave. He is a lover of all things and he inspires all who meet him.

Bill is an active member of his church community at Santa Clara de Asis where he, his wife Katherine and their kids have a "home away from home".  He loves welcoming parishioners and helping the church grow through fundraising.  Bill and Katherine chaired the Patoral Appeal Campaign, and Bill is a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Pastoral Council.

Bill also loves his job, his team and customers at US Foods.  He goes out of his way to help them successfully start out their new restaurants and makes sure they are always taken care of.  Bill has never met a stranger!

Bill is a husband, father of 4 amazing kids, brother, son, uncle and friend, among other important titles.  His wife Katherine is the amazing caretaker of the family who manages a house hold of 4 busy kids and is still working full time. Claudia is the oldest and is in her sophomore year at Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She participates in Xavier leadership, PAC, works part time and is working towards an internship with the Cincinatti Reds. She is pursuing a degree in sports marketing.  Claire and Michael are their 11 year old twins who love to play soccer, lacrosse baseball and football. Claire loves art, dance and has decided to follow in her older sisters footsteps and pursue cheerleading.   Matthew is the youngest at age 8 who takes after his dad with his personality and love for adventure and sports.

Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma esophageal cancer on Friday September 9th.  His diagnosis has kept them very busy as they are pursuing additional testing and getting multiple opinions from the best specialists in Southern California and beyond.  His treatments and doctors’ visits will be numerous including chemotherapy, radiation and possible clinical trials.  The family has established a CaringBringe site to keep family and friends updated on his journey.  https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/billheidelman

Bill has a zest for life and is certain that love and prayers and trusting in Gods plan will help guide him through the fight of his life.

The family has received countless messages asking how people can help.  They have set up this site to help raise money for his medical expenses during this journey.  Bill has an out of pocket on his insurance of $5000 per calendar year that needs to be met before it starts paying.  After that the family is left with 20% of all of his treatments.  This does not include any of the pharmaceutical products  that he will require during his treatments, any clinical trials that Bill qualifies for or the loss of work for himself or his wife and caretaker Katherine.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help this family on their journey.  This money will go toward out of pocket deductibles, co-pays, loss of work and support for the children.

Bill would give the shirt off his back to help others.  The family is beyond humbled with the out pouring of love and support, and are feeling every prayer, text and call.

Bill is walking this journey in his Faith.  He knows God has a plan.  He also is prepared to fight this cancer from any and every angle.  This cancer is relatively rare, and the options for treatment are somewhat limited.   His main goal, as in all areas of his life, is to bring others closer to Christ in this journey.  The world needs more of Bill Heidelman. Should you want to help join the battle for Bill,  your contribution would be so appreciated.  Continued prayers are also appreaciated, as the family is seeing them answered daily.
