Inspirations come in many different aspects. Sometimes, it might be your families, sometimes friends and sometimes it might be someone like Kalika Prasad Bhandari, who despite his physical disability has cycled the globe to raise awareness about his mission.As he journeyed from city to city and country to country Mr. Bhandari made his way to Austin through Para-Cycling World Tour for Disability rights in Nepal & World Peace. This is where I had the opportunity to meet this wondrous person.
In course of his mission, Kalika Prasad has visited more than 45 countries before he journeyed to the United States. As we talk about his aspirations and his dreams he mentions how he is in the process of establishing a foundation in Nepal for people with disabilities. He talks about how difficult life can be as someone with disabilities and the worst is when there are no means both physically and morally to help support these people. Kalika is committed to change individual and mass attitudes of both able-bodied and disabled people alike so that everyone can make a valuable contribution to the society.
As we read in every heroic story, life happens and these heroes face challenges. Such is the case with Kalika. As luck would have it, Mr. Bhandari got robbed in Kenya and Belgium at first then his cycle got stolen when he was in New York trying to start his journey around the United States. As the cold front hit New York a few of his local supporters helped Mr. Bhandari fly to a warmer Austin where he is hoping to resume his journey towards his goal.
Currently he is staying with the Khati family in Austin, Texas and is hoping for some financial assistance in order to reach his goals. Per our conversation we concluded Mr. Bhandari would require a minimum of $600 to restart his journey.

$200- Travel Expense
