Please help us raise funds for Betsy and David Winkler, of Idaho.
This campaign has been prompted by an article in the Idaho Statesman by Maria L. La Ganga, published on August 27, 2017. The story was also later published in the Miami Herald. (links below). On August 30th, the Idaho Statesman published a follow up article by Maria L. La Ganga.
The touching and inspirational article describes the hardships the Winklers are experiencing, despite their long, productive lives dedicated to service and community.
Mrs. Betsy Winkler used to run a crafts business, but was forced to sell it at a loss when Mr. Winkler's health deteriorated. Nowadays, after paying the medical bills for her husband and other essential expenses, Betsy's disposable income amounts to only $30 a month. Despite growing her own vegetables and chickens, oftentimes Betsy has to look for food in the local dumpsters.
Mr. David Winkler, 69, an Air Force vet of 20 years, also spent 20 years teaching incarcerated boys at a correction center. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and is currently in assisted living in Boise, ID, which drains the couple's combined funds considerably.
Please consider a donation to help Betsy and David with the most basic needs, and honor their loving commitment and service to each other and their community.
The Winklers will greatly appreciate your kindness!
