Next up: Beth's 7 marathons Africa

Thank you everyone for your gracious donations to Beth's North Pole Marathon race! Now she has signed up for the "Triple 7" in Africa starting at the end of July!

Read on about this incredible race:

After Beth's incredible finish of the North Pole Marathon, she turned right around to sign up for the Africa "Triple 7", which means 7 marathons in 7 days in 7 different African countries. Is this a way to top the NP race? I don't know and I guess we'll find out! Meanwhile, once again, she'll fund the fees on her own and can always use cash from any source! Thank you all!

Beth finished the North Pole Marathon April 9th! Her time was 7:31:40, faster than many of the able- bodied contenders.  Aside from frostbite, she navigated the snow and ice skillfully and raced without incident.

Guinness is now giving her TWO placements in their world records!! Let's congratulate her with a donation to help her with the expenses!

The marathon followed Beth's  "1st In Handcycles" title in the LA Marathon 3/19

"The measure of a life after all, is not its duration, but its donation." -
62 year-old Beth Sanden, paraplegic's, belief in what she's doing.

She has already competed and placed in the 7 Marathons on 7 Continents competition. Since her accident, Beth has competed in 70 marathons and 72 Triathlons.

2016 was awesome for Beth! She raced in the Rome Marathon for the 2nd time, the Los Angeles Marathon, and the Pho Quoc International Marathon in Vietnam. She also raced in the Long Beach and Silver Strand Marathons.

Beth, who at 45 years old became a winning marathon and triathlon competitor, suffered a tragic triathlon accident in 2002 that left her a wheelchair-bound paraplegic. She  was told by doctors that she would never walk again, that she would never be out of a wheelchair. In a body cast with withered legs, Beth's life seemed to be over as she knew it.

But the Ironman racing champion, and multiple triathlon winner, through excruciating physical therapy and constant laps in the local pool for two years, miraculously gained some use of one leg and traded her wheelchair for a cane. Even in constant intense pain, she picked up where she left off in her love of triathlon racing, this time as a "Challenged Athlete."

Her accident was merely a "detour" in her life, albeit one caused by shattered vertebrae in her back. With determination, commitment, courage and an unbreakable will, her races soon became marathons, and  with a handcycle, walker, and cane, and the encouragement of friends and family, she embarked on conquering the grueling race of "7 Marathons on 7 Continents. As the first female challenged athlete, Beth not only raced and placed around the globe, but opened up the races for other challenged athletes in their own countries.

Beth showed the world what a partial paraplegic can accomplish through perseverance, grit and unwavering willpower. She overcame the Great Wall of China Marathon, the Antarctic Marathon, the Kilimanjaro Marathon, and the Boston, Rome, Lima, Australia/Tasmania Ross, and Pho Quoc International of Vietnam Marathons.

And she won't stop. Now Beth is determined to conquer the North Pole Marathon (NPM) as the first female challenged athlete to compete in the race.

She'll be squarely placed in Guinness World Records, and joyous for her achievements and what they mean for handicapped people worldwide.

She hopes her victory will give challenged athletes everywhere - those who have lost limbs, have traumatic brain injuries,  are "chair-bound" or have any other debilitating conditions, the confidence to reach for the stars.

We hope you will help fund her mission to prove that, by conquering the North Pole Marathon as a partial paraplegic challenged athlete, she sends a message to the world:  "We can ALL do this- we can achieve our goals and dreams."
