David J Barksdale Memorial Fund

Few people in the world can identify the underlying cause of their cancer and unfortunately even fewer people notice any signs until it is to late; this was the case with our Father/Husband Dave. As some of you might already be aware we lost our Father/Husband to Stage 3 Liver Cancer on the 21st of March 2016. During his ongoing battle with cancer Dave remained strong and tried his hardest to fight the battle without bringing pain and discomfort to his family and Friends. He spent most of the last year living in North Carolina battling bravely, but, unfortunately the Cancer continued to get worse causing him to return home and seek out a specialist in Boston Massachusetts. Unfortunately, upon visiting the specialist it was quickly determined that the cancer had spread to far, to quickly, and there was no cure, no treatment, and no way of knowing what challenge the next day would bring the only thing left to do was spend his final days at home with family and friends. During his battle he had to undergo multiple major medical procedures and unfortunately some of these were not covered through his medical insurance. Now as the family moves forward we are left to morn the death of our Father/Husband while also trying to quickly figure out how to deal with the remaining costs from uncovered medical bills, and the upcoming costs involving his memorial services and cremation. We are a very prideful family and put this page up not to ask for help but rather to give our friends and family an outlet to help us if they chose to do so. There just aren't enough words. Thank you all for your love and support EVERY DAY!! You show concern, love, you contribute, and pray for us and out of all of that, our family feels loved and cared for from our amazingly compassionate friends and family!! We will never know love to this degree and the power it has to keep us going each and every day.
