Multi-Purpose Community Center

Donation protected
Dear Friend,

The Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association (BCBSA) is asking you to donate your financial support to help us complete a 6500 square feet Museum and Multipurpose Community Center.  We are a 501C 3 Nonprofit organization established on August 12, 1999 in San Antonio, Texas.  Our mission is to teach the public about the contributions and achievements provided to this great nation by the American Buffalo Soldiers and the Negro-Seminole Indian Scouts during the Indian war period of 1866 to 1890.

Over the years, BCBSA have visited hundreds of public and private schools, countless civic groups, churches, community organizations and just about anywhere we were invited with inspiring lectures and captivating displays and presentations.

BCBSA have literally financed all of our activities with membership contributions, small donations and a few small fund raising events.   BCBSA has always been completely open and transparent with its finances and have even written strong clauses in our By-Laws that ensure this practice will continue.  We have never had paid employees and 100% of every dollar received is used to achieve our mission.  In addition to history lectures, display presentations, parades and flag details; the BCBSA also have five permanent community events that we support annually.

We are committed to presenting the public with accurate historical information documented and verified by established and respectable sources.  BCBSA members wear the authentic 1867 US Army Cavalry uniforms and take pride in our appearances and presentations.  A few of our members own horses and occasionally use them in events where a strong Cavalry presence enhances the presentation.

BCBSA currently have 32 members who work closely to carry out all of our commitments and functions with enthusiasm and respect for the unsung heroes we honor. Our current goal is to be even more active in our community by being a reliable resource for Buffalo Soldiers history, for the area 250,000 grade school students, the local citizens and visiting tourists.

We are hereby asking you to help us achieve our goal by making a generous financial contribution toward the completion of the construction of the proposed Museum and Multipurpose Community Center.  This facility will be located at 1602 Wyoming Street, about a mile east of downtown San Antonio, Texas.  It will provide a full array of Buffalo Soldiers’ history, displays and presentations delivered on an advance multimedia system as well as bookless library and support for the local community activities.  We will facilitate whole classerooms of students as well as groups of tourists and visitors.

We are very excited about this project and appreciate your kind and thoughtful considerations and thank you in advance for your generous support.  Please make your check payable to the BCBSA Building Fund and mail it to the address in the above heading.

Yours gratefully,

Larry Carter
