B1G1 Study Tour - Mumbai, India

Jenny Dominguez, Meagan Holmwood, and Scott Hendrickson are raising money to participate in a Study Tour to Mumbai, India with B1G1, a non-profit, global giving initiative headquartered in Singapore. Jenny, Meagan, and Scott are accountants with Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, which was the first accounting firm in the United States to generate business activity-based giving through B1G1.

With a mission to make meaningful contributions in the world, VLS has engaged in a global project with B1G1 to impact people in need of nutritious food, clean water, education, and other life-altering services or products. The firm is covering 50% of the Study Tour costs, but it's up to Jenny, Meagan, and Scott to raise the remaining portions, plus airfare.

Would you consider contributing to their cause?

While in India with B1G1, the group will interact with the following life-changing organizations:

Midday Meals is a surprisingly small kitchen where tens of thousands of meals are prepared each day and sent to many schools in the region. The meal project increases school attendance, which in turn leads to improved quality of education. Find out more here .
Save the Children India supports children with disabilities who have a second challenge in having been born to a family with very little means to provide the needed care. Save the Children India helps children learn how to be confident, positive, and truly gifted in so many ways.
Bombay Mothers and Children's Welfare Society: Working in some tribal villages outside Mumbai, Bombay Mothers and Children's Welfare Society demonstrates the real impact of 'e-learning.' Imagine having a computer (on solar power) to drive lessons when the village did not even have proper electricity supply before. This program is life-changing for school teachers and transforms how lessons are conducted in these schools. Now the children in the classes drive their own lessons achieving so much more.
Sage Foundation: Imagine living in a slum where there is no proper government funded education... or if you go to a government school within the slum, it means that you will be stuck in the slum for life. When you visit one of the slums in Mumbai, you get to really see what it is like to live there and, more importantly, the aspirations slum children have to raise themselves and others in the community out of poverty.
UnLtd India is a hotbed for innovative Social Enterprises. By cultivating the innovation for change, Social Entrepreneurs working with UnLtd India are transforming their communities in the way normal businesses or charity organizations cannot do.

VLS is honored to participate with B1G1 in a global giving initiative that makes it possible for local businesses like VLS to make a difference on a world-wide scale. One hundred percent of VLS’ contributions to this organization are given directly to not-for-profit organizations around the world that provide critical resources and services from education, to clothing, to the simplest and most vital of necessities—clean water.
