NOTICE TO ALL DONORS: If the school does not acquire enough funding to keep its doors open, all donations made to this site will be given to the Autism Society of Central Texas which serves our community with distinction, honor and integrity.
AUTISM AWAKENING SCHOOL & FOUNDATION needs your immediate help to save it from closing. We desperately need your help & financial support to make sure recent budget cuts don't devastate students within the autism community. Last month, the TX State Supreme Court cut $350 Million towards outpatient speech, occupational and physically therapy. This budget cut forces many private practioners serving the Autism population to close or reduce the number of staff and clients. Furthermore, the Texas Public School system is placing a 7.5% cap on students who would qualify for special education services. This reduction will further negatively impact the Autism Community.
In order to provide a high-quality, learning environment for the Autism community, AUTISM AWAKENING opened the Hector E. Ponce Academy for students grades 7th-12th in Cedar Park, Texas in YR 2016. Our school provides the learning environment for students with Autism, therapy services of more than 15 hours per week, and a bridge for students to transition to society prepared. The Ponce Academy has a rating and grading system that provies objective data of student progress and their level of independence as well a program that will train autism children in areas of technology, music, and art.
Most IMPORTANTLY the school has a program that will transition these students to work and/or college studies that has been approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Autism Awakening with your thoughtful support & contribution will be furthering its goal of fostering & offering:
* Courses 5 hours a week in Music, Speech, Occupational, Physical & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
* Complete the implementation of its STEMS program for Language, Arts, Math, Social Studies & Science
* Forster a love & appreciation for music, media communications, technology and entrepreneurship in over 200 students in Austin
* An EMPLOYER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM to soon be in over 1000 businesses in the Austin & Central Texas area so that its students can participate in work-based learning & internships. This program will also train employers on how to hire, train, retain and evaluate an individual with Autism.
Your immediate SUPPORT will allow the school to keep its doors open and successfully carry on its program this year while providing for the staff and resources of our students needs as it continues to grow.
