Help Arianna get to the National FH Festival

I MADE THE TEAM!! :DDD

For the past 3 yrs. I've had the great experience of playing on an amazing HS field hockey team,"The Lisbon Greyhounds" (2012 MAINE CLASS C FIELD HOCKEY STATE CHAMPIONS) Not only are they a great team with extremely talented players, but the girls that make up the team have become like family to me. We may be a small school, but we play with BIG HEART!
Egos have been virtually non-existent and our talents as individuals have melded together to create a one-team, one-mind atmosphere, while still allowing each of us the opportunity to shine in our own unique ways. Because of this, I have gained more confidence to step out and expand my own personal experiences both on and off the field.

This November, I have the exciting opportunity to represent the State of Maine at THE 2013 NATIONAL FIELD HOCKEY FESTIVAL in W. Palm Beach FL.! IT IS THE LARGEST AMATEUR FIELD HOCKEY EVENT IN THE WORLD!! My first step was actually making the (Katahdin) Festival Team, which I had the good fortune of doing, in tryouts, this past summer. This is a team made up of girls from all over Maine and formed solely for the purpose of competing in this National Festival. My Festival Team will compete against teams from all over the world, "The Best of the Best!"

However, the down side of this is that now I am responsible for funding my own way to get there, (team fees/airfare/hotel etc.). My parents are trying to help me however they can, but because I play FH year-round, this trip has become quite a financial challenge for them. The Festival is held over the Thanksgiving Break, which makes traveling even that much more expensive. Although I would love for my parents to come with me, we have agreed that any amount of money I am able to raise on this site will go solely for my own trip & travel costs. If I raise anything above my goal, then it will be put towards my future FH expenses.

I started playing FH when I was in 6th grade and through the years have developed a true love & respect for the sport. I hope to continue playing in college. I have played Varsity FH for 3 yrs. on my HS team. I've been a Starter for 2 yrs. and am presently a Team Captain. As a HS junior, I've already attained 55 Varsity Career goals. I play indoor and outdoor FH year-round in 2 other Elite Travel Teams/Clubs, competing in tournaments throughout New England & New York. I have attended a number of FH summer camps and clinics, and also play in 2-3 Summer leagues, in order to help me stay on top of my game and to continue to grow in my abilities as a field hockey player. I am a High Honors student, taking Honors and AP classes. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and rank 5th in my graduating class (2015). I only share this information with you, to demonstrate how important and serious my FH, as well as my academics, are to me & how I strive to succeed in both.

I am reaching out to my friends, family and anyone else who is willing to help me, because being able to represent my state in THE 2013 NATIONAL FIELD HOCKEY FESTIVAL is not only an honor and one of the most exciting things that I can ever imagine doing, but it is also a HUGE step towards building and preparing for my future. Over 100 college coaches will attend this Festival to watch and recruit promising athletes. This improves my chances of getting accepted into my preferred colleges/universities and hopefully will open the door to scholarships as well.

I am asking you to please help me get to The NATIONAL FIELD HOCKEY FESTIVAL this year, so that I can take advantage of this great opportunity. I would be so grateful for any amount (no matter how small) that you might be able to send my way. You can even donate anonymously on this site, if you choose.
If you can't donate, then please spread the word for me and share this page with whoever you can.

I thank you (in advance) for your generosity and support!

With my deepest gratitude - Arianna (Kahler)
