“An American Nightmare” @NYTheater SummerFest

Donation protected

An American Nightmare is composed for many benefits, one crucial reason is to engage greater social responses to the larger concern of the devastation tormenting our culture due to gun terror and mass destruction.

This play portrays how art therapy heals the pain and the depths of despair survivors experience once victimized.  One art therapist takes you on a nearing playful, and metaphorical journey to tell a most tragic tale on the tipping point in American history, the Sandy Hook School massacre.

An American Nightmare http://newyorktheaterfestival.com/an-american-nightmare/ Be a part of this paradigm shift. This play will contribute to changing how people perceive trauma, the human condition, and Creative Arts therapies.

The more donated, the more we can enhance our process. Adding a lighting designer, videographer, photography, promotion, more rehearsal time.

As we reach our goal we will then contribute 15% of additional funds raised to our non profit Emerald Sketch ART, Inc. ... the Response Team who genuinely provides Immediate needs Art therapy trauma response post massacre or disaster.

An American Nightmare takes the audience on a heart wrenching journey though the experience of an Art therapist who responded for Newtown, CT directing Child therapy immediately following the Sandy Hook School Massacre.

The play was originally written in response to a call for performance pieces from the American Art therapy Association. After acceptance, the work was created first, as a teaching tool for Art therapists to aid in the comprehension of the clinical material, as well as express the significance of the immediate trauma response provided for the surviving children and family members of the Sandy Hook School Massacre.

After performing the Artwork to an enthralled conference hall bountiful with more than 125 attendees all Art therapists, Davis was invited to teach in several more locations.

Her next performance of the work took place this past March at the School of Visual Art hosted by the Art Therapy Project.  From here The Response has been so enhancing, survivors, and all humans alike may benefit from the experience of this unique solo performance.

Special note Most of the music composing the performance Davis wrote in 2013 and recorded with Greenwood in Brooklyn while she was actively mobilizing services for the children and families of Newtown.

A Noted Thank you will be included in the Playbill for all contributors who wish and give to this theater piece.
