One wakes up every morning with the hopes that today is going to be a promising day. A day of success, goals met, loved by people, peace and happiness. Tomorrow is never promised!
My name is Shanda and on July 30, 2016, my baby brother Alexys Rodriguez was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Tampa, Florida that resulted in a life altering tramatic injury . He broke his neck and as a result, suffered a severe Spinal Cord Injury that left him paralyzed from the shoulder down (aka) Quadriplegic.
For those of you that have had the opportunity to meet my little brother and socialize with him know how humorous, intelligent and warm hearted he is. He has a 10 month old son named Adonis that he loves and adores deeply. Adonis is his motivation to recover.
He is currently in a Tampa, Florida hospital and my family and I are desperately trying to bring him to New York to be with his son and continue his long road to recovery which will require all sorts of rehabilitation services. The rehabilitation services Alexys is required to do for recovery are Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. In addition to his therapy, Alexys will be needing a hospital bed, wheelchair as well as, assistive devices to support him with his daily living. A few of the home modifications required to provide him with a comfortable quality of life we will need to build a wheelchair ramp and an expansion to my home to provide a residence for him to live in where he can remain with family.
