African-Brazilian Crossroads

Donation protected

We are going to make a documentary film about the communities of different religious, ethnic, and linguistic groups of Nigeria and Benin and their coexistence, cooperation and joint cultural and religious creativity. The film will give people and cultures a voice that are rarely heard. We will provide audiences with authentic impressions and thoughts from Nigeria and Benin on the subjects of intercultural relations, multicultural coexistence and human cooperation. As a sidekick, we will trace cultural impacts Western African influences have had on Brazilian societies over the past centuries.

This documentary’s main objective is to strengthen the ties between the two sides of the Atlantic that through centuries of abominable human trade have created deep wounds and yet given rise to immensely rich and diverse hybrid cultures that oppose all forms of racism and prejudice.

Our goal is to make our film available to a wide as possible audience. We will therefore look for ways to publish the documentary online and allow screenings worldwide. We will hand in our documentary to film festivals and other screenings in order to further promote it and make it impactful.

The completed documentary is expected to have a running time of 45’-60’.

We bring into this project all our passion, time and working hours. The project is, however, dependent on financial support from third parties, i.e. you! [Thank you!] We estimate that we will be able to cover the net costs to be expected for travel, equipment and realisation of the film shootings with an overall initial net budget of EUR 5,000.

Your support is much appreciated and we will be happy to include your name – if of interest – in the film credits.
