The Abid Bashir Cancer Foundation

Abid Bashir, who was 45 years old, died on18/9/16 after a short battle with cancer. He was only diagnosed 6 weeks earlier. He left behind his mother, wife, 4 children (then aged 14, 12, 11 and 5 yrs), brothers, sisters and very sad family.
In accordance with Abid's wishes before he died, a cancer foundation was set up called 'The Abid Cancer Foundation' (ABCF) which will support and fundraise for cancer related orgs/charities as well as for individuals/families going through Cancer.
The foundation will provide support in the following 4 possible areas:
1. Cure research - fund research looking into the cure of cancer.
2. Care in the UK - fund existing organisations/charities/hospices that offer palliative care and support to patients and families suffering from cancer.
3. International Cancer Hospitals - Imran Khan Cancer Hospital in Pakistan.
4. Help spread awareness about Cancer specifically amongst the BAME communities where such awareness is massively lacking.
Abid didn't want anyone to suffer or go through what he and his family went through hence wanted this foundation to be set up. Abid himself pledged the first donation towards 'The Abid Cancer Foundation' to benefit other cancer sufferers and their families.
100% of all donations go to the recipients and Abid's family will normally top up the money raised from the public donations to give to the recipients.
The primary focus of the ABCF will always be cancer related initiatives and awareness but we will address other needs of the community as and when they will occur such as the Abid Bashir Cancer Foundation Winter Appeal.
Given are the extreme difficulties facing asylum seekers during Covid19 and bleak winter months, the ABCF has decided to do a Winter Appeal to support vulnerable and destitue asylum seekers with Winter Care Packages consisting on food, toiletries and Covid19 essentials such as masks, hand sanitizers as well as money through emergency grants administered through another charity.
