AVA: A Victory For Ava

From kindergarten to cancer treatment: that’s what the first days of fall looked like for my charismatic, 5 year old niece, Ava. After an incidental finding of a hard, painless, asymptotic lump, Ava and her parents, Mike and Alisha, were quickly spun into this unimaginable challenge to save her life from Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer affecting about 200 children and young adults per year.
This diagnosis has been a whirlwind for the whole family. The emotions my brother Mike and his wife, Alisha must be feeling as they enter this challenge are unfathomable. The only word for it is helpless. What could we, as a family, as a community, do to truly help, to lift some of the weight from their ever growing list of strain. That’s when we decided to start this fund, a way to make an impact! This fund will allow Ava’s parents to be by her side, over 100 miles from their home with one less obstacle to face.
Both Mike and Alisha will be away from their jobs during Ava's treatment. The money raised through this fund will be used for medical expenses, meals, travel costs, and living expenses. We are truly grateful and humbled by any and all donations. Thank you for your generosity.
