Hello,
My name is Warren Mazanec, I am prior Navy and I have always wanted to do the Appalachian Trail since I started hiking when I was eight years old. I have lost several friends to their struggles with PTSD and coping after their time in service in today's culture it is so common to not talk about mental illnesses and issues that it is easy for people who suffer to feel trapped and alone. I want to use this opportunity to do some good for my fellow brothers and sister in arms. That is why I am attempting to raise money for Veterans Expeditions (VetEx) which is a veteran lead, 501c3 chartered non-profit that is dedicated to helping veterans overcome the struggles that are associated with service
Throughout my trip I will be posting blogs, and photo updates so you can follow along on the trail. If you do decide to donate into a rewards category please note that all of the rewards are cumulative. Even if you cannot afford to donate you can still help by signing up with Veterans Expeditions on Amazon Smile, it is a different way to shop Amazon that gives a percentage of what you spend to charities in need like Veterans Expedition, the link to sign up to donate for them is here.
I could talk for ever about how great this organization is but the best person to talk about it is their cofounder Nicholas Watson who states their mission to:

In 2010, we started Veterans Expeditions (VetEx) because we saw the power of military veterans leading and participating in the “nature assisted therapy” that occurs spontaneously on our trips. Much like our military experience, we saw bonds form that lasted long after the end of each trip...
2016 has been our best year yet at Veterans Expeditions. This year alone we served over 500 vets by getting them out on a wide range of trips across the nation. ”

As a heads up with donations, I am self-funding my trip and have set this up as a direct deposit charity, so that every month they will recieve the previous months donations.
