Get ARGS Robotics Team to Worlds!

We are A.R.T. the Args Robotics Team. We need your help to get our team to Worlds! We are a diverse team located in a high poverty area, our 17-member team is 15% female and comprised of many socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
Our different talents give us unique vision, but our common passion brings us together. We are creative by nature. Visual artists, musicians, and poets—mentored by a visual artist joined together with student engineers and artists to make our robot. A variety of perspectives gives us optimal design inspiration.
We simply do not have the financial resources many of the other teams do. Last year we built our robot with the bare minimum of resources. We were able to machine parts with few tools, and to build our robot with inexpensive parts. Our robot was made using only $1,300 of the allowed $4,000 budget in 2015. Imagine what we could do with more.
Award Winners. While we have worked very hard, this is only the second year the A.R.T. team has existed, and success has come a little more quickly than we had expected. Our team won first place at the FIRST District competition in Portsmouth, VA this past March. We have continued to perform well at our events, and now have officially qualified to represent our region at the World Championships (April 25-30) in St. Louis, MO!!!
We can't go if we can't pay for the trip though. We need to raise the funds for transportation, lodging and food primarily. And we have to do this quickly!
These high school students have put an incredible amount of work and dedication into the team. Many of them have an hour+ commute to the school, and have regularly stayed until 7:00 or 8:00 p.m., designing, building and programing the robot, practicing controlling it and working out competition strategy, as well as project management, organization, and many other tasks.
Our trip to the District Championship this month helped qualify us to go to Worlds, but it used up all of our available funds, leaving nothing to get us to St. Louis.
A chance to be a part of something like this is life changing. Tech and Art students get the opportunity to work together and apply their knowledge to something real and goal oriented. Besides the obvious benefits, being on the Robotics team is a true catalyst for academic focus and achievement.
We are looking for sponsors like you. There is no amount too small. Any and every donation will help us get the team to the Worlds. We are trying to raise the funds to pay for a bus (last year the team had to carpool from Richmond, VA to St. Louis, MO), hotel rooms, and food. So please give as little or as much as you like.
