Kevin's Recovery & Support Fund

Donation protected

This fundraiser is to help Kevin provide and care for his two year old child, in addition to helping offset some of the medical expenses related to his injury, as they will be substantial. Kevin is a new small business owner, so he has no income if he is not actively working. Additionally, he was in between health insurance policies, as he was going from an employee, to a business owner. Please read below for the full story and more details

Thank you very much - Kevin and his family will be unbelievably appreciative.

     ___________

On Saturday, July 1st 2017, Kevin visited Southington Offroad Park in Garrettsville, Ohio to watch a machine gun shoot with some of his friends. The event included a number of semi-automatic, automatic, and anti-vehicle guns, shooting into a natural rock wall backstop.

While watching the event, Kevin felt pain in his leg and looked down to see that he had been hit with something large, going very fast. When he picked up the object, he realized it was a round that had ricocheted from the rock wall, back towards spectators. It was later determined to most likely be a solid projectile fired from a 40mm Bofors AT gun. While standing there in pain, trying to figure out what was going on, a member of the event staff came over, took the projectile and told Kevin he was not allowed to have it. Kevin was in too much pain to argue with or chase after the person and was at that point, focused on getting to the hospital for medical treatment.

It was determined that he had suffered an avulsion fracture to the ankle and would need to be in a cast for a number of weeks. This is a tough position for Kevin as he just recently started a new painting business, so he is completely self employed. Being self employed means that no money is coming in to care for his two year old child if he is unable to work - which is the position he is now in. He is in a leg cast and completely unable to work for a number of weeks due to the injury sustained from the 40mm Bofors round hitting his ankle.

In addition to not having any income to care for his family, he was also in-between health insurance policies, as he was going from being an employee, to a self employed business owner. The medical costs related to this injury will be substantial and will make providing for the family very difficult, until he is back on his feet and able to work again.
