October 25:

Dear Donor,

One of the reasons why we are fundraising on an open platform is to provide transparency and education. Most people have no idea how much is coming in during fundraising and how much the true cost is to feed and care for rescued wild horses for example.

Out on public land it costs basically nothing to have wild horses and burros because they are part of the eco-system and fill their niche. It's important to fight for their freedom to live in the wild.

Our plan is to create a sustainable eco-sanctuary where the the wild horses can graze and we can grow hay for the winter. The WY14 will be allowed to live in sanctuary and to be observed by visitors, students, artists, veterans, etc. They will only be minimally gentled to provide foot care and other care as needed but otherwise left in peace. The other wild horses in our Outreach Program are Ambassadors that interface with the public in a hands on way and will go to events to champion and encourage wild horse adoption as well as bust prejudice against WILD horses.

Val for example has already dispelled many myths to a lot of DVMs and vet students at UC Davis. It's beautiful to watch it happen. Maybe now some of those people will think slaughtering wild horses is a bad idea because they met Val.

We are a nonprofit organization in California. The Andean Tapir Fund (501c3) is our fiscal sponsor while ours is in the works. When we have our own 501c3 status then we will start a fundraising campaign to create the ecosanctuary. In the meantime we need to feed, board, train and care for the wild horses in our program. We are 100% volunteer--no salaries. Your tax-deductible donations are going to the wild horses in our program.

Hay is extremely expensive and the only power we have to get a better rate is if we buy it by the semi truck load. We haven't been able to raise that kind of money so we buy it in blocks of 30 bales or less at a time. Most rescues and sanctuaries are struggling with hay prices so high. For example, in the SF Bay Area hay retails for $25 a bale. In Reno the hay is cheaper. We always are sourcing out better prices to stretch out donor dollars.

We are not funded by corporations, oil, gas or big pharma so we have no conflicts of interest. We are here for the wild horses, period. We are a dynamic org and we need more volunteers so let me know if you would like to help : )

Many blessings,
Anne

UPDATE October 25th:
We are not meeting our goal to buy a semi of hay at a time so all the donations that come in for hay have gone out immediately to buy hay. As of today we have spent all the money on hay and that hay will run out the 29th. We need to raise $4000 quickly. Please help feed the 14 traumatized orhpans. Your donations are tax-deductible and the young wild horses are so grateful.

URGENT ALERT Sept 26:
We have been told there are other sites on the internet who seem to be fraudulently asking for donations for the 14 young wild horses (WY14) Protect Mustangs rescued from the slaughterhouse.

We believe more than 100K people have been directed to donate to the wrong website . . . and as a result, the WY14 are being scammed. We noticed donations for the WY14 decrease dramatically after their first 45 days in California. Read more here ->  http://protectmustangs.org

UPDATE August 21:
We need to buy large semi's filled with hay to get the best price and fill up the barn. Winter is around the corner and the prices are already skyrocketing because of the drought. We are grateful this fundraiser has been feeding the WY14 for many months thanks to donors. Right now there is hardly any hay left and a harsh winter is coming. Please help the 14 rescued wild orphans, who were rescued from the Candian slaughterhouse, with your tax-deductible hay donation today!

Help the traumatized national treasures saved from slaughterhouse--the WY14.
 (June 5, 2014)

When you make a tax-deductible donation for Hay to feed the 14 wild horse babies, 8 months to 2-years-old, who were rescued from the slaughterhouse, you are giving them hay to help them grow strong. While they are staying at their layover location near Reno before moving to the Bay Area, Protect Mustangs pays for their hay.

Grass hay locally is $17.50 for a 100 pound bale, if we buy it in 2-4 ton loads plus delivery, otherwise it is $20 a bale at the feed store plus gas to pick it up. We want to buy grass hay by the ton to save money. Once the WY14 move to the Bay Area they will need hay unless we can find irrigated pasture.

Your donation is TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.

All donations go directly toward buying hay minus the fact that GoFundMe will deduct a 5% fee from each donation the WY14 receive. WePay charges 2.9% + $0.30 per donation on top to disperse the funds.

For more info about the WY14 Rescue Mission visit www.ProtectMustangs.org We are a California nonprofit. While we are applying for our 501c3 donations should be retroactive but even so we are under The Wild Horse & Burro Fund which is part of the Andean Tapir Fund--an established 501c3 so your donations on this Go Fund Me are tax-deductible right now.

Thank you for helping the WY14. These little orphans need hay! Every dollar counts. Every dollar goes to feed them so they can heal after losing the rest of their herd at the slaughterhouse.

Please make a donation for the 14 wild horses. They need your help to heal from the trauma.

THE BLM IS BUSTED FOR SELLING WILD HORSES TO SLAUGHTER

Please HELP the WY14 from Dry Creek, Wyoming, the only wild mustangs who have been rescued back after being owned by the SLAUGHTERHOUSE. Their herd of 41 wild horses were rounded up by the BLM per request of the Wyoming Livestock Board, SOLD and purchased at auction by a Canadian SLAUGHTERHOUSE to be butchered.

Against all odds, Mark Boone Junior and I found the only ones who were still alive and SAVED them. This is the WY14. Today they need your help to get hay for the winter so they can be fed and stay warm. Please make a tax-deductible donation today! Click here to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/9xcfag

Finally BLM has been caught selling hundreds of wild horses to KILL BUYER Tom Davis. The Office of the Inspector General's report is public now and it proves Tom Davis sold more than 1,700 American mustangs purchased from the BLM to SLAUGHTER. You can read the report here: https://www.doioig.gov/reports/investigative-report-bureau-land-management-wild-horse-buyer SHAME on BLM.

The WY14 need your help to get hay for the winter when the rented acreage freezes over soon and there is nothing to eat. Please make a tax deductible donation today right here: https://www.gofundme.com/9xcfag Please do this in honor of their families and relations who were slaughtered.

Please share this fundraiser https://www.gofundme.com/9xcfag AND Contact your Congressional Representative http://www.contactingthecongress.org via phone, fax and email to let them know the BLM is busted. Tell them there is proof now that they were selling wild horses by the truckloads to slaughter via the middleman--Tom Davis. Ask them to be your voice in government and STOP this. Even today it seems the BLM is implicated in wild horses going to slaughter despite their fluffy PR campaigns.

It's time to PROTECT Mustangs. Please join us on Facebook for updates and actions: www.facebook.com/ProtectMustangs and sign up on our website: www.ProtectMustangs.org.

Now lets make our voices heard for the voiceless!

The WY14 send their love and gratitude.

Many blessings,
Anne
