Please Help Lovey Dovey

Update: From the bottom of my heart- THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to my Go Fund Me for Lovey Dovey.  I am so  happy to say , she survived the surgery- had the hernia repaired, was spayed and the mammary tissue that was removed was benign.  I could not have asked for a better outcome, nor did I expect such a wonderful response to this campaign.   I am so deeply thankful to everyone who donated to  help me cover the costs to  save Lovey Dovey!  She is doing so well!  God Bless you all !

My little Meli Lovey Dovey is having surgery today at AMC for a potentially life threatening condition.  Her uterus is entrapped in a large inguinal hernia. If the hernia either strangulates, or tears further and entraps her intestines or bladder, she can go septic quickly, and I could lose her.  In order to prevent this, she needs to get spayed and have hernia repair surgery.  She is tiny and the hernia is large. She will need to have two separate incisions and surgeon is expecting there will be enough tissue to  repair & close her without having to use mesh. (This would entail drilling tiny holes into her pelvic bone to attach the mesh). She also has mammary tumors which may or may not be removed at this time, depending on how she is doing under anesthesia. At 14 years old and 4.5 pounds, with pulmonary hypertension and grade 3 heart murmur, surgery is extra risky.  I have been struggling with this decision for weeks, as to whether or not do this surgery. This was diagnosed just a few weeks ago, when I discovered a large lump in her groin.  We've since had several surgical consults with different surgeons, and she has had repeat ECHO, abdominal sonogram and bloodwork done. The consensus of the surgeons is to do this surgery now while she is doing OK, rather than wait for an emergent situation to occur, which is very possible given her small size, and this large hernia; if that happens, surgery would be more risky, or possibly too late - the only other option would be to euthanize her.  I love her and want to give her the chance to get better, and the surgeon believes surgery can save her.  As you may know,  I rescued Lovey Dovey at 12 years old, on her way to ACC,  after she had been neglected most of her life. I am her 4th owner - Since the day after I got her, she has been under medical care for chronic skin, eyes, ear, food allergies that were not dealt with previously, and was also diagnosed with PH and heart murmur. All were apparently pre-existing and insurance would not have helped with her coverage for her ongoing care. Everything for her, including her regular daily medications and allergy shots, I have paid for out of pocket . She has been doing so well..she is a happy and sweet little dog.  This new condition  was completely unexpected - and is very serious - the  estimate, if all goes as planned , is close to $5000. They have suggested possible subsequent surgery for the mammary tumors if not removed during this surgery, and separate dental, as well.  But the priority now is to remove  her uterus and repair the hernia, which would likely save her life.  It is not predictable if and when the hernia could go bad, but it can :(    I truly wish this wasn't happening to her. And I wish I didn't need to ask for monetary help, but your donation  would help to defray some of the costs for the surgery and post surgical care.  I would be so grateful for any donation, of any amount, to help her. And please, please pray with me that she makes it thru this surgery, without complications, which will eliminate the very real threat of losing her to painful and life threatening complications of this hernia.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your positive thoughts, well wishes , support and prayers .  Love,  Stella & Lovey Dovey
