Help Victoria Fight Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Joanna Leja and I created this page to support my family’s friend, Victoria Lemanski and her family during a very difficult time.

Victoria is a beautiful 23 year-old woman, who is extremely passionate about helping others and making an impact. She is a lecturer at her church and she is a double major at Montclair State University in Psychology and Justice Studies. She played soccer practically her entire life, it was always her passion and her getaway.

Lately, she has been feeling extreme fatigue and experiencing unbearable headaches for over a month but between taking 19 credits this semester, playing soccer and working, she didn’t think much of it.  She simply thought it was symptoms of a busy life.  She finally decided to go the emergency room when she woke up on February 27th after sleeping 20+ hours, feeling very dizzy and experiencing a sever headache.   What she thought would be a quick solution to her recent health issues, turned out to be news that would turn her world upside down.

She was rushed to the ICU to undergo a blood transfusion because her counts were very low (her hemoglobin was a 4.3) and she was told that she has Leukemia.  Two days later, she was admitted to the Hackensack Meridian Hospital for further testing, where she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  This is a form of aggressive blood cancer; however, she couldn’t start treatment right away since she was very sick with consistent high fevers.  Once the fevers subsided, they started chemotherapy immediately.  Friday, April 5th, was day 30 of her treatment and she will be undergoing her third bone marrow biopsy.

Victoria set so many short- and long-term goals for herself and even with Psych being one of her majors, she has been struggling to stay positive and to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  After not being able to go outside or do much on her own for over a month, one thing she realized is that every day is so valuable, and we often don’t appreciate the little things.  While her life has been put on pause, she believes that by faith in God, he will help her through this.  After all, he wouldn’t have given her this battle if he knew she couldn’t handle it.

This has affected and devastated everyone in her family and it is going to be a very long journey for them. I have created this Go Fund Me page with the goal of supporting Victoria and her family mentally, emotionally and financially. They did not ask me to create this page. I am doing so to help show how much hope and love surrounds them! From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all your positive thoughts and acts of kindness. With a small donation, we can help relieve the financial stress of cancer and allow Victoria to better focus on her treatment. Please keep Victoria in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for supporting the fight for her life!
