7/15: -Dakota (4yrs old)fell out of 2nd story window, onto the driveway at grandmas house. - ambulance to hospital, stabilized her and onto flight for life to the childerns hospital. -very fractured skull, compressed vertebraes T2-4, brain bleeding/swelling, unconscious, dilated pupils, no movement/pain response on the right side of her body and some superficial scrapes on her legs. - surgery to realive brain pressure(took a good chunck of skull)(to many fracturs to put back together so she'll be getting a plate in her head after fully healing) -shes been kept asleep for her own saftey and healing via meds
.
7/16 - they lowered the amount of sleepy meds, she's still out but more responsive via body moment, including the right side again(it was touch and go for a min) -slowly lowered the amount the ventilator over time, by evening it was out and a feeding tube was put in.
.
7/17 -EEG (brain wave tracker) was removed, shes still on seizure meds but is low enough risk they didnt need it anymore. -clamped the drainage tube on her skull to test if she can handle the pressure again, so far so good, might even remove drain tomorrow. -no longer on oxygen -eye doc came and checked her eyes since they're still dilated and not responding to light. He said her eyes are perfectly fine, its something with the brain. So waiting game for that. -shes no longer on any sleepy meds, she hasnt woken up yet but tosses and turns alot and if a doc messes with her, o boy, shes already knead, kick, slapped and punched pretty much every doctor thats touched her and she was asleep. Cant imagine what it'll be like when shes awake. For now thats all we got, we wont know the extant of the damage or anything until the swelling goes down. Dakota will be hospitalized for multiple, months with recovery and rehabilitation. Everything from general healing to speech/physical/occupational therapy. Starting from the very beginning again and learning how to sit up, stand, walk, talk, eat.....EVERYTHING again.
.
We have a ton of prayers out there and we are grateful for every single one. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR LOVE, PRAYERS AND SUPPORT! But its not about the injuries, it's about Dakota and we want to praise her strength, courage and goofballness with some of the more recents smiles we have before this horrible accident. We have the most recent fun in the mud, her 1st time on a bike and her 4th birthday present, getting her ears pierced.
