We are deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news that after an incredibly strong fight and exhausting all treatment options; Chris passed away on Saturday evening January 26th.
His untimely passing leaves us with heavy hearts and mournful minds.
We ask that you keep his family- especially his sons Cole and Eli- in your prayers as we sort out this unexpected life without him and venture through an incredibly tough few weeks, months and years ahead without him.

For those who are close and interested: Calling hours for Chris’ family are Wednesday 1/30 from 4-8pm at Athy Funeral Home 111 Lancaster St Worcester.
Funeral is Thursday 1/31 at 11am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception 353 Grove St in Worcester.

Chris Calcagni (49yrs old) suffered a devastating cardiac arrest at home on Sunday, January 6th. He was transported to Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham where he was stabilized, intubated and hypothermia protocol was followed. A CT scan of his head indicated diffuse brain injury due to anoxia (lack of oxygen for a prolonged period of time). He was transferred to MGH Neuro ICU on Thursday, January 10th . Chris received wonderful care and had an amazing medical team and family advocating for him every step of the way. The poor prognosis determined early on with the current medical diagnostic testing and neurological evaluations utilized was heart wrenching to hear from the team.

Those who knew Chris, experienced the brilliant, wonderful, talented, strong, resilient, and witty man loved by his family, friends and colleagues. He was a loving devoted father to his sons, Cole 16 & Eli 14, they were his world as he was theirs. A husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, colleague and advocate with a heart of gold full of love and humor. A Pharmacist with a dedicated career of more than 20 years at Tufts.

We are so very grateful for all the love, concern, support and prayers from friends and colleagues. We are blessed and appreciate each and every one of you.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our team, Team Chris.

We have been asked to create a GoFundMe page by friends and colleagues that would like a place to support Chris and his family on this journey. We are asking anyone who reads this story to please PRAY and send healing energy to Chris' family.

It is a long path ahead with ups and downs and will require support of many.   With deep gratitude, love and blessings to you all, Chris’ Family
