Murphy GSD Rescue
She had a good day with the family on Sunday, but early this morning she fell and could not get up, she began to cough, and her gums were pale. She was taken to the vet, and I was informed her blood count was extremely low. We made the decision to transfer her to an emergency center with universal plasma and begin treatment.
All funds raised, every single penny, will go to her care in hopes she can get better. Medical help does not come without a cost, but she is worth our every effort. I have no idea what human would do this to any animal; she has suffered, and we can only hope to save her.
Murphy will be forever thankful for the love she has received; she needs help now from all of us to see her though this issue.
I will keep everyone updated.
Becky and Barry Switzer
I need to let you know that Murphy is doing well but her adoptive family can no longer keep her. They are broken hearted but they had to face the reality that they just cannot do it. We need a good home for Murphy and everyone needs to realize she is a special needs dog and always will be. It will take someone VERY special to take her, but if you do, no one will ever love you more than she will. She is so loyal and so sweet. If you or if you know of anyone who might consider her please let me know.
Murphy and Molly
Her best friend "Molly" the tri-paw, loves her more than you can imagine.
Here are two photos of Murphy today.
Thank you to all the wonderful Murphy Angels for your continued help in making sure she gets the enzymes and special food she needs.
Her days at Blue Pearl ER were up and down, the staff loved her, she was a girl fighting to live, all the while loving those who were helping her. I know, that sounds a bit dramatic, but ask anyone of them, she had them at “hello” lol.
Two weeks of fighting to survive, two weeks of a full-time staff watching, ready to assist and give her every hope possible for becoming stable.
We would visit, and she was always happy to see us, especially the Graham children, but she was very content to stay with her medical team, never wanting to be too far from them. (They had her back and her tail, lol).
About day ten we were told she was stabilizing, what a happy day! We were also informed that she has a condition, either hereditary or environmental, that causes her pancreas to cease production of vital enzymes, because of this she will need supplemental enzymes for the rest of her life. No meal without them and certainly no treats. Eating without them will make her gravely ill. Food would have to be of a particular quality as well, very high priced food.
You can see in all of the updates below showing just how costly her upkeep would be, but who would turn back now? There had to be a way to support her life going forward.
The costs are beyond this young family, and with very sad hearts they agreed to adopt her out to another who could care for her, they just wanted the best for Murphy. Several caretakers at the Emergency Hospital volunteered then Baybird, aka Lisa, one fantastic woman from Arkansas raised her hand and opened her heart, she would take Murphy and care for her.
Two weeks after being admitted to Blue Pearl ER Murphy was allowed to return to the Grahams home where she would stay until her next ER check up after which we would transfer her to Arkansas.
Murphy was so excited to be home with the Grahams; the children adore her, and Molly the three-legged shepherd mix was thrilled to have her new friend back. The photos were joyful. How could we take Murphy away from the loving home she had found? The answer, we couldn’t.
We made the decision that with our help, donations from very special friends, and those of you who we have met through GO FUND ME we could help offset her ongoing monthly medical costs. Baybird agreed, and Murphy is loving her "fur"ever family.
You have the biggest of hearts, and all of you are apart of this sweet girls life. You cannot be thanked enough for your initial and continued support of this precious soul. Surely, you will be Blessed too for helping her have a life.
We will continue to update you on Murphy. While she lives physically with the Grahams, I believe she lives within all of our hearts forever.
She would not be here without every single one of you.
Does Murphy have a Forever home yet??? What are her special needs?? What kind of family are you looking for?
Becky, have you found a home for Murphy?
Hi Becky. We have texted Kristi that Muphy has a safe place with us if she wants. So very sad that her care is so expensive for them. She looks so good now! We originally rescued her because Kristie and her family were wanting to adopt her. I was under the impression that another rescue was initially going to take her before we cross posted her on line. We can post for a foster now. If Kristi wants to keep until then she can or we can take her at our shelter any time ( Edy volunteer. Pets& People )
Murphy looks like a completely different dog!!
Murphy looks amazing and so is her wonderful family. This pic sure says it all. Thanks Becky!
It blesses me to see how well she is doing!! A true Miracle.
I am so glad that Murphy is enjoying the day.
Thank you so much for posting this video of Murphy. She is beautiful and I just pray she will get stronger each and everyday. We love you, Murphy!!
Thank you, Jesus for touching this sweet baby and giving her the strength to wag her tail. I know Lord, You are going to continue to strengthen her and give her doctors the wisdom and knowledge they need. Murphy, we love you so much and I am so grateful you have such a wonderful family that loves you with all their hearts. I wish I could give you a big kiss so I am sending it to you right now with a big hug.
