In October, Denise got a cold that lasted the entire month. She knew her immune system was down but at the end of the month, a lump appeared on the back of her neck. The following week, another one appeared and she knew something was very wrong. She went to the doctor, underwent many tests, and received the results of the biopsy on Christmas Eve. It was cancer.
She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage 2. The oncologist recommend a chemo therapy treatment plan . The prognosis was good, but the potential side affects were very bad including but not limited to a loss of fertility, neuropathy (pain in hands an feet), decreased brain function and eye sight, and finally an increased risk of getting a second type of cancer. She began researching alternative options. Immunotherapy came up in her search with its worst side affect being a fever. It is currently in clinical trials but there is a clinic in AZ that has been practicing this type of treatment for 19 years. Her case has been accepted into the program.
The total cost of the therapy is $31,000 which is not covered by insurance. She is trusting that if this is the next right step for her, God will make a way and provide for her to do it.
