It Never Rains, but it Pours Fund

Hi, I'm Jazz, and I'm a paramedic.

At this point, as of December, I'll have been doing this job for 9, brain numbing, soul destroying years, and I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

That being said, in the last two years, my life has changed greatly. I went from being a single dude, able to make the low wages and long hours work, to a Dad, with different priorities.

As it is, I have a decent EMS job, but one that requires I be gone for 48 hours straight. Though the wages are good, for a medic job, it's still low compared to cost of living, and even lower when childcare is added on.

I'm currently looking for a second job, something to help fill in some gaps left by my current paycheck, but that's slow going, and a battle to find something that will be both worth my time, and something that doesn't take me away from my child for an exceptionally long time.

--The Point--

About time I came to it.

As of right now, I need a new pair of boots. I don't like spending money on myself, feeling like I have greater priorities, but at this point, I can't push it off any longer.

The current work/EMS boots I'm wearing I've owned now for nearly 5 years. They're falling apart, in the literal sense. The beaten insoles are so flat at this point that wearing them for greater than a few hours at the time is extremely painful on my feet, hips, and back. They're riddled with holes, and the bottom of the boots are actively peeling off.

I'm hesitant to ask for help, but there's nothing for it. With winter approaching, I need a boot that's water resistant and insulated, and these are not them. So, I'm coming to you, the great wide world of the internet, to ask for even a few dollars to put toward a better and longer lasting set of boots.

--The Plan--

It's simple: once the money is raised, if it is, I will buy the best pair of boots possible with the money given.

The boots will need:

-Water resistance
-Insulated for winter
-Easy to take on/off
-Have lifetime warranty
-Good arch support
-Moderate to high comfort (due to long hours)

From my current searching, boots hitting all those marks start anywhere from $250 to $300 dollars, depending on brand, and can go as high as $800 or $1000.

I don't need $800 boots. That's just silly. Something less, but hits all those points, is perfectly fine for my purposes.

After the money for the boots has been raised, and the boots bought, any addition money that may have come in, or any money left over, will be donated to an EMS or First Responder related charity.

--Closing--

Thank you. Really. For reading this, or sharing it. For donating a dollar or 10 or more. Whatever you've done, I genuinely appreciate it.

I know times can get tight over the holidays, believe me, do I know. Anything you did was appreciated.

Thank you again for your time, your consideration. Have a great Holiday, whatever you celebrate, and a marvelous New Year.
