Elijah's Medical Fund

Elijah is a one year old, who was diagnosed in February of this year with Nephrotic Syndrome, minimal change disorder. Nephrotic Syndrome is a rare kidney disorder that causes the body too much protein in the urine. Some of the symptoms include edema (swelling), high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and acute kidney failure. The minimal change disorder is what causes his relapses, and can happen any time the immune system is working to fight off anything in the body.

Since his diagnosis he has been on daily steroids, and now has begun a diuretic to take long term. He has had two relapses, the second of which he is still in and has been for over a month. His swelling and medications have taken a toll on his body. He has had several hospitalizations and a kidney biopsy in this month alone. They are looking at starting a new treatment for him within the next few weeks, as he is no longer responding as he should to his steroids.

There is no current cure for Nephrotic Syndrome at this time and Elijah's case isn't easily managed with the preferred forms of treatment. We are asking for some financial help to pay for medical bills and loss of wages. Any amount of support would be greatly appreciated!
