Hey I'm Amy :)  I'm 35yrs and would like to thank you very much for taking the time to read my story it's very much appreciated.
In August 2014 me and my little family moved from the UK to Canada to start a new life. We very quickly fell in love with Alberta and all settled into Canadian life very quickly and knew this was where we were meant to be. However in june 2015 I found a lump under my armpit then in my left breast. After going to my doctor who sent me for mammogram and ultrasound confirmed there and then that this was indeed breast cancer!! They then sent me for CT scans and MRI lots of blood tests and a biopsy , which was when they found it to be Her2 triple negative breast cancer that was quite a large mass luckily it hasn't spread anywhere else and was just in the lymph node in my armpit and my breast. Me and my partner met with my oncologist who was amazing to say the very least. She explained everything fully to us both so that we could take it in and understand what the next steps were and what will happen and that she aims to cure this awful disease. So I started in July 2015 chemotherapy and herceptin every 3weeks for 6rounds. My first round wasn't nice at all but not as bad as I expected it to be. Then I had my second round just before my mam arrived from UK but ended up in hospital for 1week very poorly and found I had an infection! After a week I came home where I still wasn't very well but just wanted to be at home with my 3 daughters (12yrs 8yrs 1yrs) my partner and to see my mam. They then delayed my third chemo for 1 week as I wasn't well enough. I also had to have another CT scan and a brain scan which again came back good and it hasn't spread but it had Infact shrunk. My next few round went pretty much as my first round did until my fifth round (just before my mam was due to go home) where I ended up in hospital again for another week this time after lots more tests found out I had C diff. Which is a bacterial disease and again I was very unwell. But was determined to get better so I could get home to my family and to see my mam before she had to go back home. My last chemo was great wished they'l all been like my last haha.
After chemo had all finished I had an appointment with my oncology surgeon where we planned a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. So I was also referred to a plastic surgeon to discuss everything with her. In Dec 2015 I had my surgery which wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Although the recovery time was a little longer than I thought! And struggled with normal day to day things for quite awhile. Then end of December 2016 my oncologist confirmed that they had removed all the cancer and removed 15 lymph nodes of which 9 had cancer. So I felt great knowing it had all been worth it. In Jan 2016 I had my appointment with my radiation oncologist to discuss what was going to happen and if I if any question. On the ties I went to get a CT scan for radiation and to get all lined and measured up ready to start. Then on the thurs evening i discovered a lump in my left collarbone my fears all started again!! I tried to get in touch with my oncologist but couldn't so I went to see my family doctor who said he thought it would be of concern and would try and get in touch with my oncologist for my but he couldn't either. Then on min my oncologist rang and asked me a few question told me he didn't think it was anything to worry about as my ct scan I had the week before was showing nothing but if it would put my mind at ease he will send me for an ultrasound which took 3wks I had that one day then later that day my oncologist rang me to say that there was a mass and he wants me to have a biopsy and another CT scan which again confined my worst fears that it was her2 again!! After hearing this and finding out I had to start on chemo until further notice was just dreadful and terribly upsetting! But won't have any nasty side affect this time!! Yeyyy :) and a ct scan and MRI every 3mths. However I have a great friend who strongly believes in alternative therapies and treatments so she has got me in touch with a natropath where I have started a lot of natural remedies and treatments along side my chemo! Which are all working excellently so far! The lump that I found in my collarbone was visible by time I started my chemo and alternative treatments... Has completely gone and my oncologist even said cos he knew it was there as he couldn't only feel it but see it. That if he wanted to convince himself it was there he couldn't cos there is nothing there at all.
Just recently I have had my 3mth ct scan which showed it be (in my oncologist words) "shrinking dramatically" and he said to keep up all my good work as it is showing excellent results! Our only problem is the financial side of all my alternative therapies and treatments as we have exceeded our limit on our health insurance so are in desperate need to raise money to keep my treatments going so I can actually cure this once and for all and grow old with my beautiful family.
