IVF funding for Jo & Steve

Donation protected
Steve and I have been trying to have a baby since just after we got married, almost 2 years ago now.

I know so many people who are blessed by the life they have with their children, and Steve & I sincerely desire that for ourselves as well.
Family means so much to us. But unfortunately, family doesn’t come easily for all. Trying to get pregnant isn’t such a beautiful experience when you struggle to achieve that positive result.

This has not been an easy road to travel. Becoming pregnant has been a huge challenge, and we have invested a lot of time, energy, money, and hope up to this point. Unfortunately, every month has been a disappointment. Through it all though, we keep pressing forward. For our family, we have to.

Steve and I have been diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”. This doesn’t mean that there is nothing wrong, but rather, the doctors can’t figure out what is wrong.
To top off the emotional toll infertility takes on us each month, there is the financial burden as well. Fertility treatment is not covered by insurance in the vast majority of states. 1/8 couples struggle conceiving, yet there is little to no coverage offered to help.

We have gone through a few different stages so far in our treatment.
First, we have done every uncomfortable and invasive procedure that both my OBGYN and my fertility doctors have asked of us.
After the tests, came the medicated cycles. This included taking medications that help people who don’t normally ovulate to do so, or for people like me who already ovulate every month, the opportunity to “super ovulate”.
After the medicated cycles, we moved on to IUIs. (IUI is a process in which a sperm sample is placed in the uterus 24-36 hours after “forced ovulation” due to a home injection of HCG. It increases a couple’s chances of conception each month for two reasons: Multiple eggs can be released at once, and the sperm are injected as close to the released eggs as possible, taking away their difficult swimming journey.) Still we have been unsuccessful in becoming pregnant.

Every unsuccessful month gets a little harder. There is a sadness that feels overwhelming, as my body seems to fail me, and no matter how many pregnancy tests I take, they all say negative. Not only are the negative pregnancy tests hard to handle, but the financial burden is as well. Every IUI is $1,000. And they aren’t working for us.

We have been undergoing fertility treatment for 6 months. And though it is time consuming, expensive, and has some not so fun side effects, we have done everything in our power to get pregnant.
We have been very patient through this process. We have tried unsuccessfully on our own, and unsuccessfully with medication and IUIs to get pregnant. It should have happened by now. We need more help from the doctor, and help from IVF, to get pregnant.

The next step is going to be a mentally and physically demanding journey. IVF is not an easy road to travel down. And it is a huge financial burden.
IVF will cost us $13,000 for the procedure, plus a few extra thousand for the medication.
We will take this challenge on though, in the hopes that we can have a family of our own someday soon. And I pray that one day, I can experience what it is like to have my baby growing inside me.

Our dreams of a family, and IVF, seem so far out of reach on our own. But I know we are not alone. And that’s why we are here to ask for some help, because with help, the load could be just a little lighter.

If you can, we would really appreciate the financial support towards making our dreams of one day having a family of our own, come true. Any amount would help us immeasurably.
Every donation adds up to a big difference for us.

Thank you.
