Tania and AJ Memorial Scholarship Fund
In the days and months that have followed their loss, I have looked for meaning beyond their passing. Both of them meant not only the world to me, but to everyone who knew them.
The arts were important to them. Tania was a photographer whose worked touched the lives of many, and my son's fascination and love of music never ceased to amaze me.
Tania also had a saying, and that is that a little help from a lot of people becomes a lot of help. I believe this to be true, and so it is in their honor that I am beginning this campaign.
Through the help of many individuals, I am seeking to raise $50,000 to begin a set of scholarhips in their honor. Currently, I am working with my alma mater, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and with Lamar State College Port Arthur on funding endowed scholarhips in their names.
It is my hope that through coming together to support this endeavor, we might offer others the opportunity to study the creative arts. The arts so richly blessed me and my family, and knowing others can be continually blessed in Tania and AJ's names means the world to me.
Yours in Music, as in Life,
If you would like to read more about their story, you may visit our memorial website.
I have to say, this endeavor has taken on somewhat of a life of its own, and it is so inspiring to see the kind of legacy Tania has left in her absence.
I am grateful to everyone who has been willing to help us reach our goal and to contribute to this cause. God bless you all, and thank you so much for what we've already accomplished!
Thank you to everyone who has been sharing the fundraiser page, talking about the project, and donating. We've got a long road ahead of us, but we're off to a great start!
God bless you all!
Hey Heath, it's been awhile, and a shock as I shared your tragedy to my fellow Unitarian Congregation in Houlton, ME last year. I lit a candle for you and the passing of your loved ones, and many have you in their thoughts and prayers in the Congregaton as well, I am sure are staying strong, still making music... You have inspired me, and always shall and always will be my friend and little brother... We went to school together from middle to high school in that smal podunk "town." Which I will never forgive or forget those people, but I know you were supporting me along with your family (which I consider mine as well!), I live to do music just as you inspired me, and I still write games on the computer... I wish I could help and support you financially, but all I can do for now is be there as the friend and brother I used to and always shall be! I love you man! PS Friend me on Facebook (under "emparallax", was supposed to be a music project to undergo but I got other ideas...)
