Janelle's Recovery Fund
As an NCAA athlete for the University of Toledo Cross Country and Track teams, running is a cornerstone of Janelle's life. She wholeheartedly dedicates herself to her passion of running as much as she does to her friends and family.
On Friday, January 15th, 2016 a tragic accident left Janelle severely burned across a majority of her body. Burns of varying degrees now cover her from head to knee. She is faced with a very long, painful and scary recovery process in the weeks and months to come.
Plastic surgery and skin grafts as well as general hospital fees will be an enormous burden on Janelle's family.
I invite you to join me in supporting Janelle and the Noe family financially through this unimaginably difficult time. Now is our chance to come together and give back to a girl who has shared uncountable blessings with innumerable souls lucky enough to cross her path.
Janelle needs all of our care and kindness, but her recovery will be very expensive and requires our urgent financial assistance. On behalf of Janelle's friends, family and teammates, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
Here is a link to the Toledo Blade newspaper article about the accident.
Updates will be posted as Janelle's recovery progresses.
Janelle was able to use a fork to eat some fruit as well as a couple spoons of mashed potatoes. She was able to pick her cup up off her tray and drink a bit. She was also able pick up her phone and look at a couple of messages for herself.
We spoke with the plastic surgeon this evening (Saturday night). He said he believes most of her burns are 2nd degree and should heal on their own. There are a few more severe burns on her hands and arms that are less predictable. The doctor was optimistic that she might be up and running perhaps in a month. Janelle loves to run so this will be great news for her. Her being in great shape has really helped her in her healing process. Once again Thank you to everyone for the prayers, donations and well wishes. I read them to her as it gives her encouragement.
Janelle & Family, I am so sorry you have to suffer through this experience. I am a burn survivor of 38 years. I also suffered from a horrific accident and was burned over 40% of my body with 3rd degree burns and spent 8 weeks at St. Vincent's Burn unit. When others say they understand, or know what you are going through, they do not, unless this has happened to them. I would love to come visit and talk with you to give you support and encouragement. This will not be easy, but it will make you an even kinder, good hearted, considerate and understanding person than you already are. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and do not be surprised if you see me soon.
To Janelle and family, I am so very sorry that you are going through this. I know this journey all too well as my son suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns 2 years ago. Although the journey ahead may be painful and scary know that you are not alone and that soon you will be okay. Know that you are in great hands... The burn unit staff are fantastic and will take wonderful care of you! You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
my friend was right across the hall from you in the burn unit, as I'm watching his recovery process you've given us hope on making it through this! was so happy to see you go home :)
I am so sorry that you're going through this my thoughts and prayers are with you and always will be unfortunately at this time my thoughts and prayers are all I can offer but as soon as I can make a donation I will give as much as I can. Please keep your head up!!
