Saving Theodore

When Theodore was picked up he was weak and helpless, skin and bones, drooling profusely and covered in his own waste. He was rushed right to Knightswood Animal Hospital.

After two vet visits this week, this is what we know:

Theo ingested a caustic toxin on the street. He is missing a quarter of his tongue and has root exposure at the gums on both sides of his mouth which has caused a very bad infection. It is unfathomably painful for him to eat so he is being forcefed through syringe, after being dosed with sulfracate and pain meds every 8 hours. Because part of his tongue is missing, he need to be bathed and blow dried everyday/every other day to maintain his dignity and spirits.

He is severely dehydrated, requiring fluids everyday. He had a full blood work up where they found his liver is damaged due to ingesting that caustic toxin while on the street. He is also SEVERELY underweight.

He is also on cerenia to stop his vomiting, was given a convenia shot, treated for fleas and worms, has a heart murmur and is highly anemic. I covered his initial vet bill of $437.00 and would be incredibly grateful for any help you are willing to contribute to Theo’s care.

Because of the extensive damage to his mouth, the vets are estimating another possible $1500-2000 for a dental once he is strong enough, 5 different medications, and a recheck of kidney/liver values daily for the next two weeks. He’s not even close to out of the woods and will need continuous care and rehab for months on end.
