Send CCHS Robotics Team to Championships in TX

Tax deductible
We are a student-run FIRST Robotics Team based at Culver City High School , known as Bagel Bytes Team 702 . On March 24th 2019, for the first time in the team's 19 year history, Bagel Bytes won the Regional Championship in Monterey Bay against a competitive field of 36 high schools from across California. As a result, we have qualified for the FIRST World Championships, April 17-20 in Houston, Texas.

Due to the sudden and unexpected need to raise funds for this trip, we have established this Go-Fund-Me site. Our goals is to support the work that won us the Regional Championship, cover our travel expenses, and give Culver City High School a chance at competing in the national tournament. We are asking for help to sponsor a student on the team, so that they can attend the competition. Any and all donations are gratefully received.

Our team learns and applies knowledge and skills in CAD design, electronics, software development, sensors and mechanical engineering. We write open-source code, in conjunction with a relatively low-cost camera to allow our robot to move autonomously, while knowing its position on the playing field at all times. All donations, big and small, will go directly to a student applying STEM to the FIRST World Championships in Houston, representing Culver City for the first time.

For more information on our team and its unique story of how we got to the finals at Monterey Bay, please check out our website, www.team702robotics.com  and feel free to visit our Instagram: @bagelbytes702

About the Bagel Bytes Team

Founded in 2001, we have accumulated a variety of awards, and in our last season, we won the Innovation in Control award for creating the PIXY-Lidar. PIXY is a fast vision sensor you can quickly “teach” to find objects, and it connects directly to Arduino and other controllers. In addition to this, our robotics team is also very active in the Culver City community. We help youth in STEM by mentoring robotics teams at local elementary schools, and the Culver City Middle School. We are a diverse team, in which over 66% of out team belong to a minority group, and approximately half of our leadership is female.

Update 04/01/2019
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for supporting the robotics team through our mission in finding funds for Championships. Fortunately, we have found sponsors that have helped us financially and have brough us closer to reaching our goal of $17,000. Thus, we have lowered the gofundme goal to $8,000. Not everyone on the team can afford to pay the full price of attending championships, so your support has greatly helped us out. Thank you.
