Udo's Emergency Back Surgery

Friends, Family and Pet Lovers. We had an unexpected accident happen to our 9 year old Miniature Dachshund.

A day ago, Udo's back legs and front left leg gave out on him, leaving him unable to move and walk on his own. My husband and I immediately ran him to the emergency vet clinic to get a diagnosis on our little man. 

We were given some overwhelming news that we weren't ready for.  The doctor explained that Udo has extreme neck pain from a possible herniated disc or IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) which was causing the inability for him to walk. She of course gave us a few options to think about. Option #1 is to perform the needed surgery for Udo to recover fully. Option #2 medical management which he is given the needed medications to help overcome the pain temporarily and strict confinement, but only has a 50/50 chance of recovery. And of course the dreaded Option #3 is euthanasia. Neither my husband and I are ready for option 3 at all, that was simply out of the question.

We decided on medical management hoping at the time that would keep Udo most comfortable and allow him to recover with rest. We have a feeling, that the medical management isn't enough and immediate surgery is needed.

We are asking anyone who is willing to help Udo out. We have some money set aside in our savings, but not enough to cover the entire medical and surgery costs. Our timeline for surgery is short.

Udo means the world to DJ and I and many other hearts he has touched.  He is a fun loving, crazy little man who loves to go on adventures, cuddle up next to you, and even steal your warm spot when you stand up.
