Help Restore a Bucks County Barn

Donation protected

Every barn has a story and our barn at Dancing Timber Homestead is teasing us with hints, like who put the handmade doll on top of the sliding upper barn doors to guard it and what the various spray painted PA Dutch symbols mean. We purchased the property, which dates back to the mid-1700's, in the fall of 2017, with plans of saving the barn and turning it into a place for teaching, small events and workshop rental space.  The foundation of the barn is in dire need of repair due to poor drainage over the years. The stone walls need masonry work. It has a new roof. The wood siding is old and needs repair or total replacement. It's structurally sound, but for a few support beams that need immediate repair.  We know we're looking at a million dollar project, but need to start somewhere.

What do you get for helping us?

If you live in Bucks County, you help save another beloved barn. If you live in America, you help save part of our history. This barn's windows were filled with stone to avoid taxes during the famous Fries Rebellion, when land owners were taxed by how many windows their house or barn had.

My name is Kim Krause Berg.  If you know me from my work on the web, than you know my story, my website consulting work, and volunteer work with off-track racehorses.  I'm a Bucks County native and have happily forced my non-native to Bucks husband, Eric, to love farms as much as I do. You will find him on his John Deere mowing the acres long past sunset.   I have countless reasons to be grateful and giving back to the community and county I love is important to me.

You may wish to rent space to teach, set up a massage table, hold yoga or tai chi classes, meet with clients or hold a workshop. You may long for a rental place that is not attached to stores or in a busy town. A place for walking in the woods or petting horses.  We dream of those things too and will be happy to have you here someday when we all dream this barn into its new life.

Any donations are welcome.  Please stay in touch. We're open to ideas and in need of help from every angle (investor, business partnership, student training...)  My personal dream is to turn part of the barn into a business center for events for small groups or companies that want to take employees on a day long training expedition in the country.

Ask me about discounts on web design services and items made in my shop too, in exchange for your help.
