I am raising funds for my dear friend and boss, Dannelle Garcia Gundlach, to use to provide care for her mother, Helen. Helen has dementia and Dannelle is her primary caregiver. This is a difficult job in and of itself, but there are additional issues creating obstacles at this time. Therefore, I am doing what I can to take some of the burden off of her shoulders.
Dannelle had brain surgery 7 years ago to address two aneurysms and has a remaining aneurysm that is inoperable. She should avoid excess stress and should not lift heavy items. Caring for her mother is counter to both of these directives, but her love for her mother overrides these directives.
Dannelle's sister Dannette is in the final stages of cancer and is expected to pass in the coming days. Dannelle's husband was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and is facing major surgery and a long period of recovery.
The money that I am raising will be used to pay for 24 hour care for Helen while Dannelle deals with the loss of her sister and with her husband's treatment and recovery.
Helen is one of the dearest women I have ever met. She deserves to be cared for with love and respect. We have a certified caregiver that will care for Helen in her home along with other ladies Helen's age. At this point, 24 hour care is not affordable. I hope that you will consider a donation of any amount to assist with our goal of caring for Helen full time so that Dannelle can deal with the other pressing issues in her life. One day of care costs $100. Even if you cannot donate funds, please feel free to leave us your comments to encourage both Dannelle and Helen.
