Kahuku High School Gym
Im raising funds to buy some much needed new equipment for our school weight room. Most of our equipment is over 20 years old, rusted and worn out. My mission is to get rid of the older, dangerous equipment and replace it with newer and safer equipment. 80% of the student body at Kahuku participate in some type of sport. Its only right that we give them the best and safest tools possible for them to train and help them succeed. I challenge all Kahuku alumni to donate at least $5. Money will go towards brand new equipment, shipping and renovation of the weight room. Mahalo for your support of our kids and school. -Tanoai
We still have money in the fund and will continue to take donations so we can complete the weight room makeover. Thank you to all who have donated to help make this huge blessing possible. The kids are so grateful for your generosity. We don't have much but we have each other!
Below is the first order I put in for the stuff we need and can use right now. We'll be ordering more stuff as we move along, such as infinity racks, rubber flooring, benches, prowler sleds and power platforms. This route will be more economical and practical than waiting for the $180K we'd need to order the fancy custom package we originally planned for.
Please see the itemized order form, final invoice and check made out to HELE Fitness from our 501c3 Kahuku Alumni Association account I transferred the GoFundMe account funds to. Mahalo for all your continued support. We're finally getting this done!! Go Big Red!!
The school was only informed in mid Dec. that the NFL wouldn't be doing the weight room for us. Now they're saying that they are willing to help via the NFL match grant where an NFL player who is alumni of Kahuku can donate up to $5K and the NFL will match it.
First of all, that's not what they told us back in May 2015 and that's not how Kapolei aquired their new football field. Plus that grant is offered to all schools (if they have NFL alumni), so it's not really doing anything special for us.
So here we are 8 months later back to square one. The thing that really upsets me is that if they just told us they're not gonna do it for us I could have continued pushing to raise money for it. We missed out on 8 months of fundraising because of their coyness.
So what now? Well If everyone who this reaches can donate at least $5 that would help us make up for those lost 8 months.
We will get this done for our student athletes one way or another. It's just too bad the NFL won't be the one to leave their legacy behind for these kids.
Mahalo nui, Tanoai
After living in Hau`ula for awhile & picking up the Pastors kids from school during football season. I came to love this area. Kahalu`u to Hakipu`u is where I became known as "Da Welda" welding for the love of welding & helping to build a piggery for the "Pakele `Ohana." The "Chee `Ohana" planted the seeds of love for Hau`ula. I'm disappointed that the NFL with near limitless fund can not even fix the weight room as promised... I TWEETED this...see what happens...I got a lotta followers...
Next up is getting the proper matting so the new equipment can be used. Thanks Tanoai.
You are a real shaker and a mover, Tanoai. Big time mahalo for your support of our youth at Kahuku High School!
Thanks for taking charge and doing what is needed to make this happen. Very upsetting that the NFL has reneged on their initial agreement especially because of the amount of NFL alumni that have come out of our Pride of the Northshore. However, our kids and the community will persevere. I will make a donation. Mahalo Kahealani Kaina
Mahalo, Tanoai, for taking this on for our students at Kahuku.
Aloha! Right on! So happy the kids get what they need to succeed! Thanks for making it happen
