Join 11 month old Francisco’s battle against Mitochondrial Disease.

The journey begins when Jenna Reynolds, a Dental Assistant and Zane Velasquez, a Navy Veteran were married in 2015 and were blessed to welcome baby Francisco into their lives in November of 2017.  Zane is now a police officer with the Santa Barbara  police department and Jenna is caring full time for Francisco.

A few months after he was born, Francisco began to have problems gaining weight as his body was not processing food properly.  The situation soon became critical and for the past 6 months, he has required constant medical care to survive, as the doctors struggled to treat and diagnose his perplexing condition.  To date, this sweet little baby has been through 3 surgical procedures and numerous hospital stays. Just recently it has been determined that Francisco suffers from Mitochondrial Disease.  This is a chronic condition that Francisco and his parents are bravely facing, now, and in the days and years to come. (see link below)

As you can imagine, this life-threatening struggle has put tremendous strain on the family. They are extremely grateful for the prayers and many forms of support that they have received to date from family members, friends, and Zane’s co-workers. And throughout all of this, Francisco continues to smile and “fight the good fight”.

However, the family is facing daunting financial challenges, such as
non-reimbursed medical costs and co-pays, out-of-network specialists, travel and housing expenses resulting from extended hospital stays far from home, and the significant loss of income, as Jenna has been unable to return to work while providing care for Francisco .  Add to this, is the inescapable prospect of the many “unknowns” in the years that lie ahead.

Our success in this fundraising effort hinges on your generosity and also by helping us to spread the word.

So please, make a donation, and take a moment to share this story of love and hope with your family, friends and coworkers via direct emails and by adding this to your social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter.
