On 12/1/2017 My husband and partner, Timothy of 16 years suddenly had a middle cerebral artery rupture due to a aneursym in his brain which caused a subarachoid hemorrhage. He was starflighted to Gaits vascular institute in Buffalo, NY where he went through brain surgery and had a crainiotomy to his frontal lobe. The doctors inserted an EVD (external ventricular drain) into his brain to drain the cerebrospinal fluid.
My husband woke up from surgery and had movement to his legs and arms. For the next few days, He went through periods of vasospasm. The left side of my husband's body became flacid, and he was unable to move his left leg or left arm. Speech became a struggle and he started repeating words over and over again. The doctors took him for a angiogram and medication was given. Slowly, Tim was able to regain the use of his left arm and left leg.
Over the next couple more days, Tim was becoming more confused due to the trauma of the brain injury and surgery. He accidently pulled out his EVD from his head. Doctors had to bring him back into the operating room, and re-insert the drain.
Timothy, also had a condition the doctors diagnosed as, cerebral salt wasting and he had to given salt tablets and extra fluids.
Finally, my husband went for a third brain operation, and received an endoscopic third ventriculostomy. This is a procedure that reroutes the cerebral spinal fluid so the body reabsorbs it.
My wish for Christmas was to have him standing. I have received my wish. He is standing and walking with assistance about 80 feet at this moment. But, I need your help with money, We can't do this alone. My goal is $5,000. Let's do this for Tim.
