Jade's Study Abroad Fund: Ecuador 2015!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

I want to thank you for visiting this page today. Here I will share with you a few things about study abroad.

Upon starting classes in the Fall of 2011 at Salisbury University, I always had the mindset to get involved. This has been successful with my involvement in Phi Mu Fraternity, Lambda Pi Eta Nation Communications Honor Society, National Broadcasting Society, etc. Above everything, grades matter to me as well. I received a Dean's List recognition in 4 of my 6 completed semesters and I strive to maintain above a 3.0 cumulative GPA. I am a Communication Arts major with an emphasis in Media Production. Also, I double minor in Spanish and Dance, so I am very involved both in extracurriculars as well as academically.

Despite my well-roundedness and academic pursuits, it has been a long desire of mine to study abroad in college and since I am going to graduate in a year, I figured I might as well sign up. After exploring program options, I decided I admired the Winter term Ecuador trip for the Spanish program the most. This would satisfy a course requirement so that during my Spring semester next year, I would not have to double up with two Spanish classes. The program is an extensive 4-week program in which you live with a host family, attend classes in the city, and explore many incredible sites. Seeing as I am long overdue to a trip to my other homeland, Brasil, I want to experience another amazing country that has a lot to offer.

Growing up, I was raised by a full-Brasilian mother and a full-Polish father. I was exposed to travelling since I was very little, travelling to Brasil 6 times and to Poland twice. In addition, I have been to the Dominican Repbulic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Guadalupe, Antigua and the U.S. Virgin Isles for vacation purposes. It has been a long time since I have been out of the country, and as I stated earlier, I long to travel to a place I have never been to before and learn more about Spanish culture.

By November, I must have the full program cost of $3,900 due. I plan to utilize scholarship applications, local fundraisers and social media to promote my fund and (hopefully) complete my mission.I feel that with my efforts and your generosity, I can reach this goal quickly so that I can start saving up for my summer job.

This is something I am trying and I hope to see some success. During my sophomore year of college, I realized that if I don't act now and try out something new, I would regret it later down the road. As of right now, I have no regrets and I really would not like to start now!

At this point, anything would help. Hopefully I inspired you to pitch in a small donation to my fund. Anyone who has ever studied abroad before would know that it is not an easy thing to pay for. This is a major investment and I plan to start saving RIGHT NOW.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesistate to contact me here.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my story, have an awesome day! :)
